I had one Kahlua Colada when I was about 3 months out.  Didn't feel a thing!  They want you to avoid alcohol because it is empty calories and it is dehydrating.  (but can be oh so much fun!  LOL!)

I love margaritas - Charleston's has the best one ever (Perfect Margarita, lives up to its name).  Anyway, I have tried a few times since surgery and I don't get overly sloshed, but what I find is that it actually kind of burns when you drink it.  Now, when I want one, I just ask DH to get one and have a sip or two.  Then I remember that it burns and that I don't really want it, so he ends up with the whole thing.  I think one of these times I'll remember that it does burn and I won't drink it and not have him order it.

ummmmmm...can I plead the 5th????  lol....yep, drinking is definitely interesting after RNY - but I am also almost 2.5 years out and didn't even attempt anything until 2 years.  I have a little transfer addiction going on - would rather drink and dance than hmmm...just about anything....  yes it hits hard and fast but I can also kill the buzz by drinking a big glass of water as well.  (for the most part this works every time....but every once in a while the buzz stays)

I have recently found that I do have to watch things - I have regained my pre-surgical reflux issue - but only when I am drinking.  I don't know what amount might trigger it but if it happens - it hurts like hades!

I would say - why get started!  It is wasted calories - has no protein value that would be worth it - AND you might blow a .08 pretty easily depending on how you handle things......and who needs that?

Make a good decision for you though....  we are just here to be entertained - or to be the entertainment (in my own case!)  Ruth

You plead the 5th !  That means you're not supposed to confess !  I, too, have embibed.  It never affected me before surgery and it still doesn't.  Maybe a light buzz but gone quickly.  Too many calories for no effect in my books.  I'll stick to the virgin tequilla sunrises or bloody mary's.

Lynn and I both had a Bloody Mary a few months ago didnt we?  Of course mine had Vodka in it, her's didnt...LOL

But on the plus side drinking a Bloody Mary helps me get my 4 servings of tomatos in daily and helps lower my chances of prostate cancer (by up to 26%)
