Has anyone tried drinking an alcoholic breavage since their surgery?

No, and I wouldn't even think about it.  Just like I wouldn't think about drinking a carbonated drink (soda), or eating bread, pasta, rice -- simply because my surgeon and NUT said not to.  I want to follow what they say simply because they know from experience what I need to do to be a success with this.  Michael

A couple months ago dear hubby and I went to a little bar with my then boss for a drink the night of her birthday. I was scared to drink for fear like i was told before that I would get sloshed QUICKLY, sooo I order a schmernoff (sp?) and I babied it for 3 hours. I was fine...

I asked the same question the other night at the support group dinner in tulsa and someone has had a margarita since surgery and did fine as well.

Guess it just depends on the person and what you are drinking.

I personally have not tried it.  I'm not much on alcohol either though.  My group told us that we should stay away from it for at least one year.  That is for RNY or sleeve patients anyway.  We will absorb the alcohol so much different than in the past.  It will hit our bloodstreams very quick and won't take very much at all to become drunk.  If you do try it be sure and have someone to drag you around and drive.  I am not willing to try it at all  until my year is up.  I have friends who do drink some but they are 2 year + out right now.  They still aren't able to drink very much at all.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

When I was 5 months out I had two mango marquitas and didnt have a problem.  Feel the buzz quick but it left fairly quickly two.  Stay away from beer and the  carbonation.

At about 4 1/2 months I had 2 oz of white wine.  Wow, it hit me hard and fast.  But, I was a pretty cheap drunk before surgery.  I haven't had alcohol sincde then.  It is just not a big part of my life.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I drink (sometimes vrgin) Bloody Mary's ever so often.  I forgo the salt though cause that stuff is just nasty.  Plus when using tomato juice or V8 in the mix, 4 servings of tomatos each day help lower a guy's chances of of prostate cancer.

Now also I love rum and sometimes drink a malibu, cranberry, pineapple mixed drink.  but like Sherrie said I dont drink more than one because you will get woozie quickly

Not yet.  I have this fear that I'll awaken in a trailer park next to a woman named Bruce wearing nothing but skivvies with dollar bills stuffed inside.  Maybe when my weight is stable.
