6 weeks out from lap band and I gained 2 pounds.  I've lost 5 every week till now.
I was good this week.  What's a girl to do?

I am not a lap bander, but want to tell you that I am sorry to hear your disappointment. I think its still really early in your journey and you will get the weight off.  Are you eatting alot of sugary starchy foods?  Breads, pasta, rice etc?  I am RNY but when I hit my first hard core stall I went back on liquids for a coupd days and it jump started me again.

I have heard other folks say they gained weight with the lap band. Remember to eat protein first, then veggies. Stay away from carbs.
Good luck getting it off. You can do it.

Are you just coming off liquid or soft diet to more regular food?  If so, it happens sometimes.  Remember to eat your protein first, then fruits and veggies then starch.

Hang in there, you will get going to the right direction again.

Your body has given up a lot of weight in a short period of time.  It has to take a breather for a bit.  Or, you may have eaten something with a higher sodium content.  Or, it could be TOM.  Who knows what happened.  But, you know if you followed the dietary plan you were given there is no way you ate 7,000 calories more than your body needed this past week.  You will lose again- this is just a temporary blip.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Thanks Happycat,

I assume you mean TOM (turkey time).  I am retired, so no office celebrations or extra food yet!
I sure do appreciate the encouragement.  I expected one day to be stalled, but to gain just
floored me.  I was venting my discouragement and a lot of people have give me encouragement
to get my mind back on track.  Thank again.

Five pounds a week for 5 weeks is pretty rigorous weight loss.  The band average is 1 -2 pounds a week, however that's just an average-most people lose more up front and then slow down later on-although some people I know lose slowly at first, then speed up.  I guess my point is that everyone is different.

One of the toughest parts of the band is that it IS slower than some of the other surgeries for a lot of people and that is just something you have to wrap your head around.  All of the WLS are just a tool and there is a lot head work to be done-including realizing your body isn't on a calendar time table.  (My head still struggles with that one).

In the scheme of things, especially early on (due to higher BMI) 2 pounds could be just a little extra salt causing water retention or something as simple as that.  It's one of those things that FEELS like a big deal, cause you want results, but probably isn't really a big deal.
