Six Months
I had my 6 months post op appt. last week and got my lab results this week. The check up went great ... Dr. said I was right on track for where she wanted me. But the greatest thing was my lab results. I have normal cholesterol and triglycerides for the first time in AGES. And, that's without ANY medication!
So, the greatest thing (other than being down about 60 lbs. and actually seeing goal weight in sight) is that I'm off of all BP meds, cholesterol and triglyceride meds .... and all those values are NORMAL.
So, if you're contemplating WLS, it's made a huge positive impact on my health and I feel better than I have in at least 20 years.
My only remaining health issues are unrelated to weight and I feel some aspects of those issues have improved, as well.
I'm so glad I made the decision to have surgery! : )
It was so nice to read your post. I love a success story! I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to some medications and health issues, too. I know you'll get the rest of your weight off within the next 6 months.
Blessings,

Thanks everyone! There has been one big snag in the post op course for me. I went off my antidepressant after surgery .... and it really got me! I must remember there's multiple reasons I take it and weight loss surgery didn't solve any of those. I had a really terrible time in that area, but am getting back on track now.
Just a word of caution to anyone else considering doing the same or struggling in the same area. I was physician supervised the entire time and am now pulling out of the nose dive I hit about 3 or 4 months out. My focus was to try to exercise enough to offset antidepressant medication and for me, it most definitely did not work.
So, now I take the antidepressant every day ... and exercise, too! ; )
