Yes, another question!

I would have to say that I'm most concered about my life changing after surgery! But, yes in such a good way. But, next to that is the pain that comes after surgery. What do I need to expect on pain, and life the 1st week after surgery! Thank you so much, I don't know what I would do without everyone helping me by answering these questions. Soon, I'll be the one answering them!!

Have a blessed and wonderful day!

Hi, Amber.
I can't speak from personal experience yet (Monday's the day!), but it seems hardly anyone who gets the VSG talks about pain. My best friend had it, and she felt minor soreness and never even took pain medication. She had the surgery one day and went back to work 3 days later!
Have you been on the VSG forum here? It's nice to read posts by those who've had the same surgery. Let me know if you need the link for that.
You'll be fine, Amber.
Blessings,
Mary

I would not describe it as pain. It was more like minor soreness and mostly on the left side. The "worst" soreness was gone by day 2. I slept on my stomach from the first night home. I took off work 1 week because I had so much time off built up that I needed to take it or lose it. I did get tired more easily for the first 4-6 weeks and went to bed early during that time but otherwise people who did not know would never have guessed I had surgery.

Hi, Nancy.
Sweetie, I've noticed that I sometimes get a reply meant for the original post person (who isn't me, of course). I think what you're doing i****ting the "reply" button below my reply, rather than the "reply" button at the top, under the original post. I don't mind, as I love to get mail, even when it's not mine (haha), but I wouldn't want Amber (or whomever) not to get your sweet and thoughtful responses.
Blessings,
Mary

For me it wasn't pain it was like I had been working out and doing hundreds of crunches, just muscle soreness in the lower abdominal area.  In the hospital they will give you pain killers, but after I left the hospital I never took anything for pain.  Every body has different tolerances for pain.  I had an open gallbladder removal years ago and I never took any pain med for it not even when I was in the hospital.  Every body is different when it comes to pain.  Congratulations on making the decision to have surgery, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life, wish I had done it along time ago.   Lisa

I had surgery on Wednesday, went shopping for an hour or two on Thursday and was back to work at a desk job on Monday.  The pain was easily tolerable for me.  It wasn't bad - good luck to you!
