I've read about drain tubes and them being in for a few days.  I don't want to drain!  I want nothing hanging out of me when I leave the hospital.  Does everyone have one?
PLEEEEZE tell me no!  I'm being a BIG BABY again!!!

Oh, another thing...The vitamin B50 causes my pee to glow in the dark!  J/K but it looks like it could!  Is that normal?
Sorry if its TMI!  I'm new at this!

Kim:

Not sure how Dr. Gorospe handles things but at WW there are no drains, no pee pee tubes, nada nada nada!!  Everything is au natural!!  The RNY patients do get the wonderful use of a pain ball - anesthetic in a ball that goes into the main incision, but that's about all the extra stuff.  I am sure it is a case by case thing in most practices, but rare use at WW.

Not sure about the B50 thing - what the heck is that?  And if it causes pee to glow - it can't be good right?  roflmao

You have a NEED to be a big baby right now - it is OKAY!!!  Nobody knows all the answers so don't worry - ask away!!

I changed to Dr. Gornichec.  I was going to Dr. Gorospe!
Anyway thanks!  I was worried about the drain.  I didn't know if it was a necessity.  I'll just tell them to leave mine out!

B50 is the vitamin my surgeon's office told me to start taking because I was low.  I'm serious it really has that glow in the dark look to it!  LOL!  Its the same color as the vitamin itself!  Thats how I knew what was causing the color!  otherwise I would have thought I ate one of the kids glow toys!  LOL!

Thanks for your words of wisdom!!!

Kim, like Ruth, I don't know about your doctor, but we didn't have any of that at WW.  The pain ball was in the incision, but was pulled out before I left the hospital.  Plus the tube was very thin and didn't even feel it when they pulled it out.  My HUGE big baby moment pre-op is when I heard someone talk about being cath'ed.  I went into a total panic, and even PM'd two of the guys to ask because I didn't want to ask on the public forum.  I was VERY relieved when I found out I wasn't going to have to have a cath.   If this is worrying you, call his office and ask.  That is why you pay him.  Michael

Thanks Michael!
I guess we all have our fears!  You're right, I need to talk to my surgeon about it.  I'll have my consult next week.  That will be one of the questions I ask him!  This time I'm making a list!
I hope you are doing well!

Hey you,

I haven't talked to you in forever.. LOL.. Or maybe a few days.. OMG!!! Look at you moving right along.. You go girl!!! Your doing GREAT..  If you do have a tube, (which I don't know) but I have had them before and it was nothing.. Just a tiny little bag that would catch the excess liquid and a little pin hole.  When they took it out, I just took a deep breath and she pulled.  It was really nothing..

Start making your notes now that way you don't forget them for your appt..

Your getting closer each and every day..

OMG, KIM, I am so glad you asked these questions. It helps me to make my list of questions to ask my surgeon.  On, the drain. I had 2 drains when I had back surgery. They really aren't a bid deal and don't hurt at all. It stings a bit when they pull it out but not too bad. I know I was kind of freaked out about fluid draining out of me, but it was all good. You will do great. Keep posting those questions!

Kim, you may not need a drain, and I hope you don't.  But if the surgeon decides you do (for whatever reason) put on the big girl panties and be glad that you have it.  It's much better and less painful to have a drain, than to NOT have a drain and need one.
