OT- gasoline vs ethanol

I noticed recently that my little car was running a little rough and had lost some of it's pep.  I was trying to avoid an expensive tune-up since it isn't even time for one.  Today, I stopped for gasoline at a place that sells 100% gas products not ethanol.  Guess what??  My little car is running like a finely tuned machine!  No rough idling, great acceleration, just like a new car!  I am guessing that ethanol must be a really bad idea for our cars- at least an older one like mine.  What do you guys think?  Any similar experiences?

I have not tried the 100% gasoline, but have noticed that since the price of gas has dropped below $2 my gas mileage has greatly improved. What is up with that?!

Yep yep...I drive an 06 Corolla, even, and when I put in ethanol, it started running rough, and my gas mileage was cut in half. Since I switched back to 100%, and did a fuel cleaner treatment, it's been running smooth as a baby's butt. :)

We had the same thing happen! We do not use ethanol any more, just plain gasoline only. We lost 10 mpg in our mileage with ethanol ... and we did some research and found ethanol can be harmful to your car's engine. So, we decided to go for real gasoline only ... and the price difference is more than made up by better gas mileage.

Yes, you will get better mileage and your car will run better on 100% gasoline. The reason why so many gas station sell gasoline blended with ethanol is because they receive a tax credit from the govenment for buying ethanol!

I know this because I work in the wholesale accounting dept at Loves and we work a lot with biofuels.

No Ethanol here either.. 100% GAS..  We started that this summer when our boat and cars were lagging because of the added Ethanol..  I only pump at 1 station here in Claremore and always make sure I have a full tank..

HIJACK--- what station here in Claremore sells 100% gas? We always fill up at quick trip and I get awful gas mileage.

My car runs fine on the 85% blend. I even get better gas mileage on it. Weird, I know but I swear its true! It really depends on your particular car. Some cars run fine on 85% ethanol and others will completely choke up on it.
