Bariatric Hospital-- Edmond, OK
Hi, Amber.
I'm having VSG surgery this Monday, and everything so far has been wonderful. I'm sure others on this Board will chime in. I've heard nothing but good things. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
Blessings,
Mary

Mary where have I been?!!! You are having your surgery on Monday?!!!! Wow!! I will make a note on my calendar to pray for you. Let us know what time your surgery is once you are scheduled. You will love Amy the pre-op nurse. She lost a ton of weight with her sleeve and you would never know she had a weight problem before. I'm so happy for you!

Hi, Amy.
Thank you for praying for me. See, now that you know and the surgery is so close, you're less likely to forget, so it's all good. I check in at 5:30, and the surgery is scheduled for 7 a.m., so I'm the first surgery of the day. I'm excited about that. I'm less excited about having to leave Winfield at 3:30 a.m.! :) Honey, if I was told I'd have to walk to get there, I'd find a way to do it!
I think it was Amy that I talked to today. She said she was the first sleeve patient there. How cool is that--and scary, I bet!
Blessings,
Mary

I got the best nursing care I have ever received anywhere with any of my surgeries. The hospital is gorgeous, clean, and well run. I hope I can figure out how to get plastics done there (they do have a couple of plastics guy that operate there.) Their infection rate is almost nonexistant. I can't imagine any better place to chose exists.
Amber, OMG you are going to love Foundation Bariatric. I am such a huge (no pun intended) fan of the place. I have never met Dr. B, but I hear nothing bad about him. The hospital is the absolute best! Even the receptionist when I checked in was great. There are only 14 rooms, I believe, and of course, not that many patients, so therefore the nurses are able to devote a lot of time to you. They are johnny-on-the-spot if you need something. Since WLS patients are all there is, they know exactly what you need and how to help you. I felt the staff were like friends by the time I left and that was only 3 days. The place is clean, the rooms are huge, as it used to be a woman's hospital for deliveries. You have free movies on the TV, if you want. I usually can't sleep in a hospital. The first night, I slept because I was still kind of out of it from the surgery, but the second night, as usual, I couldn't sleep and stayed up all nigh****ching movies. It is, bar none, the best hospital stay I have ever had. The only small fear I had was of the anethesiologist (sp?), and I told him so when he came in to talk to me. I had this fear of not being able to be put under or wake up during surgery. He was so comforting and put his hand on my shoulder and told me he would make sure I was ok. Never did I felt like anyone was annoyed with my questions, only comforting answers and understanding. When I got into surgery, I looked around because I never had surgery before, but did divert my eyes away from Dr. Walton when he was "playing" with the instruments he was going to jab in me. The anethesiologist told me he was putting a oxygen mask on me, and that was the LAST thing I remember until I woke up in recovery. I didn't even remember getting sleepy, I was just out! I think that is what amazed me the most about the surgery. Well, I have gone on and on (sorry), but like I said, I am such a fan of BFH (and of Dr. Walton). You'll do great, and you have picked the only place, in my opinion, to have the surgery. No, I don't work for the hospital. Michael

I have been associated in one way or another with FBH and WW since it's beginning. I can tell you that the care that I have received at FBH is (bar none) the BEST care ever! I have had procedures at several other local hospitals and never been treated as well or cared for by better people!!
I have heard many patients and families of patients say what has already been said here - they are great! The support system is top notch and each of the clinicians care in such a great way that if I never had to go to another facility - I wouldn't! But alas, a specialty hospital is just that, so I am sure all my future needs might have different ideas! However, I will tell you FBH is always my first choice!
Don't feel that your anxiety is unfounded! Everyone goes through this particular issue just before a major surgery. This is such a LIFE CHANGING procedure you SHOULD be questioning yourself! Just don't let it consume you. We are all here to help you through and answer your questions along your journey! Good luck and please let us know if you need something!
