I have surgery tomorrow morning... yikes!  Anyway... I had an IVC filter put in on monday.  My mid region hasn't been the same since.  Anyone have this done?

My back hurt for about 3 or 4 days after my filter. I would also have these sharp pains for a week after the filter. A few times I was even doubled over in pain. The pains were fast but intense. I went to the ER once and they said the filter was shifting and settling slightly. They weren't too concerned but I swore my insides were getting skewered a few times.

Thank you both for your information and support.  I'm not so worried now that they are going to tell me the Filter had melted my insides and they're canceling the surgery.

I was told there would be little to no pain with the Filter placement... I don't guess I asked how it would feel AFTER the procedure.  Just goes to show... ask exactly what you want to know!!  The procedure was a walk in the park.  I was awake for the whole thing... and the insertion point is just fine.   But once you get home or get out in the yard and can't make it back to the porch... It is alot like being skewered ... ouch.

Best of luck on your journey!!!

Hi, Nicki.
Good luck on your surgery tomorrow. I'm sure you'll do fine, and you'll feel better after you get that IVC filter taken out. I don't know much about that, but it doesn't sound like fun. You are in my prayers.
Blessings,
Mary

Mine has shifted just a bit according to the x-rays but I cannot say I ever had any pain or discomfort afterwards other than a stiff neck for a few days.  Best of luck to you.

And as usual, I'm late on messages... seems to be my mantra since having Tyson.  Good luck on your surgery today, Nicki!  I hope the filter is feeling better (I didn't have one, so I have no advice to offer on that one).  See you on the loser's bench!

Good luck on your surgery.
I also had Dr. G. Make sure you look at getting it out as soon as he tells you.  He started telling me at the 3 month mark and I didnt really want to, so when I came back for the 6month check up I finally scheduled the removal.  After 3 hours on the table they couldn't get it out due to scar tissue.  I guess it's not a big deal since some people leave them in, of course with some risks associated, but it's different now that I CAN'T get it out.

Again, good luck.  Dr. G is really great and the ICU staff is wonderful.
