Updating on my brother...

We left my house at 3:30 a.m., got here at WW at 6:00 am.  Checked in at 6:30, did the pre-op thing, Frank went into the OR at about 8:00.  Dr. Walton gave me a good report that surgery was done and he was in recovery at 9:45.  I guess he got into his room at about 11:15ish.

He has been drinking very well, walking very well, burping VERY well, breathing deep, and not in any pain.

I got the pleasure of seeing Kim McC (our kansas friend) and her daughter Melissa today.  I was napping when she was upstairs, but I want to THANK her for looking me up in Frank's room downstairs because it was really nice getting to see her again today.

Well, that's an update on my brother for today.  I'm spending the night here and leaving early in the morning and going to work from here.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and thoughts.

Hi, Dot.
Thanks for the good update on Frank. Please tell him that we are thinking of and praying for him. [I guess it's all right that I speak for the group.]
Blessings,
Mary

 Hi Dot!
I'm glad he's doing well.  It sounds like he's a lucky man to have such a wonderful sister to care for him the way you do.  He will be up and around in no time!
My Bro called me today.  We are both still waiting for insurance approval.  I'm really glad I have been on here talking with everyone.  I have so much knowledge now it makes it much easier for me!
Thanks for posting!  Tell your DB we are thinking of him!
Kim!

Thank you.  I'm sending my prayers up that you and your brother get insurance approval soon!  Does your brother live in OK too?  Is he going to the same doc as you?  What insurance do you have?

Hope I get to see you again at the dinner this week...  depends on if I'm taking Frank home from the hospital that night or not...  if not this time there is always next month!

Hello again!
No my brother lives in Houston.  He is going to New Weigh??? I think thats the name of it.  I am going to Dr.  Gornichec in OKC.  I don't know what kind of insurance he has but I have BCBS of MN.  I don't think they take very long to approve but one more day is a long time when you are waiting for an answer!  LOL!

I hope to see you at the dinner too.  I haven't said anything to my DH about going.  I don't think he has any plans so I should be able to go.

Best of luck!  I hope Frank continues to sip sip sip and walk walk walk!  LOL!

I'm glad everything went smooth too!  Now, if he could just get rid of the gas pains!  They are giving him mylacon (sp) gas drops.  But, he is still having a tough time of it!

So far, he is surprising me!!  I thought I was tough!  I've had two major abdominal surgeries prior to my RNY, so this laproscopic surgery was like a cake walk to me!!

He hadn't had any surgery since he was 16 years old and it was a fairly small incision for his appendix, so I was a little worried about him.  Besides, sometimes I don't think guys deal with the pain as well as women since we have to go through childbirth and all.

OK guys, if you are reading this...  I'm not bashing you.  Not ALL men are that way!!  But, I kinda thought my brother would be!  lol
