calcium

Hi, LaDetra.
I ordered Calcium, multivitamin, and iron+C from www.celebratevitamins.com, and they taste great! They have no chalky aftertaste. I bought the Hot Cocoa flavored for the Calcium, and next time I'm going to try the Strawberry Creme. I bought a 90-day supply of each, which works out to be about $10 a bottle. I bought sublingual B-12 at WalMart.
I took my vitamins and supplements to my pre-op appointment, and Dr. Walton, the patient advocate, and both dieticians tried them (each tried a different kind). They raved over them. :)
Whatever calcium you get, make sure it's chewable and calcium citrate (not carbonate). Whatever multivitamin you choose, make sure it's chewable and adult, not children's. I had been using Centrum chewables, but the amounts are not quite sufficient for bariatric patients, altho' it's not quite as essential for VSGers as, say, RNYers, but it's still important to supplement. No matter what your surgeon says (if he does) about it being okay to take Flinstones, this is the only time I'd say to go against your surgeon. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks Mary...where did you get the hot cocoa flavored for the calcium, that sounds pretty good. I read somewhere where the there is one type of iron that our new pouch will not be able to tolerate..do you know which one that is? Thanks

Hi, LaDetra.
I bought all of them except the B-12 (altho' they have that, too) from www.celebratevitamins.com, and the dietician commented that it was the right kind of iron, altho' I don't remember what she called it. That's why I think it's important to get bariatric vitamins and supplements, so you know what you're getting is the right kind and amount. The Hot Cocoa calcium is good. It kind of feels like I'm cheating. :)
Blessings,
Mary

I buy the powedered form online at vitalady.com. I'm just really bad at taking it like I should. I'm better at the other vitamins. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

I agree with Mary!  The Celebrate vitamins are the BEST!

The calcium was the hardest for me because the citrate that we need has to be chewable and it takes kinda bad.  My sister is HappyCat and she calls it kitty litter.  But the vitamins are critical to us wls patients.

Congratulations on your upcoming date!  I am so happy for you.  I have spent time this weekend getting rid of too big clothes.  I can't believe how big some of my clothes were.  It's freaky now!  I was such a blimp!  Now I'm just a blimpette!  Ha!  LOL!

But I'm getting away from you and this is about you.  I'm putting that dang protein next to my purse so I will remember to mail it to you tomorrow.  I'm not usually such a deadbeat!

Enjoy the whole process - it is such a life changing event!
