Girly Question

I'm hesitant to ask this after the scars I got from asking my last question but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. Does anyone else stop or slow loosing weight right before your favorite Auntie comes to visit? Just curious.

And no, I'm still not weighing myself everyday.

Auntie M doesnt come to my house anymore....Thank God!! But I would imagaine it would still cause swelling and or a small amount of temp weight gain. I think that is just a normal part of that visit. Hormones later are just as much of a problem when you go through the Menopause.
We are basically hit either phase of our lives with those issues!

Hi, Joy.
I don't know about the answer, because I'm pre-op ****il the 17th). I'm replying because I am sorry that you have "scars from asking [your] last question." :(  I remember your question, and I think I even responded. Did you feel we were too hard on you? I know the girls often use humor. I can hear them now, in unison, "STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!" but they'd mean it only good-naturedly. Please know that we all love you and wouldn't hurt you, not for a minute.
Blessings,
Mary

*flails arms wildly*  MEMEMEME!  Even from that evil, wicked woman's first appearance on my doorstep after surgery, I have stalled, stopped, or even gained when that wench is here.  Grrr..

I don't want to scare you, but I usually bounce 4-5 lbs UP when Flo knocks on my door.  HOWEVER, as soon as I boot her to the curb, within a day or so, I am back to normal.  Just remember it is water weight, darlin, and you'll be fine (even tho I understand COMPLETELY how we tend to freak if the scale fails to move or goes the wrong direction).  Good luck to you and when you see her, tell Auntie that we are all infected with some rare, highly contagious tropical disease at my home, so there is no need to visit here, lol

Hey !  I agree with Mary!  PLEASE don't be afraid to ask a question on here.  If you can't ask it here who the heck are you gonna ask.  You can't call your surgeon every few mins.  Thats what we are here for.  I'm pre-op and if you feel bad aasking a question...I will too!

Ok, now I will get to your question about your "Auntie" visit.  Again..I am pre-op but I can't imagine that visit thing changing too much after surgery.  I read somplace that right before the visit your Metabolism goes up...thats why you get the cravings from that and hormones...plus you have water weight gain.  BUT if you control your eating during that time you will lose extra weight after its over.  I can't remember where I read it or heard it...Sorry.  But I am always reading books and magazines and looking online and watching dr. shows!  And lets not forget ER.. LOL!

Ok! Now the next time you have a question, silly or not you have to be sure and come here.  Everyone should feel comfortable to ask questions...I say that for me too.  I want everyone to feel as comfortable on here as I do!

Hope I helped a little!
Kim

i try to stay away from the scales when "she" comes to visit but not always. i have not noticed weight gain but loss comes to a stop for 4-5 days til "she" packs her bags and moves on. i do notice my clothes a little tighter because of the bloating.

Don't get those visits, but when I did I was also a daily weigh-er.....so I can say that I would gain almost exactly 2 pounds the day before I started....and lose it the day after I started-pretty much like clockwork.

Never be afraid to ask questions here.  (Well, within reason, somethings might be TMI for some folks.)   But this is the most supportive and informative board I have found on this site yet and so I hang around here a lot - even tho I am way up in Michigan.  (Snowing today!)

Anywho...a small amount of weight gain is to be expected when the "Girl Days" come a callin.  Probably, mostly water weight gain, that usually disappears once our "special visitor"   leaves.

So, not to worry - what you are experiencing is perfectly normal.

Pam
