Acutely aware that I have little self control

My sister has awful knees and she is about 60lbs overweight. I saw on a news deal one time that for every 20lbs you are overweight it puts 100lbs of pressure on your knees. So basically she is putting 300lbs of weight on her knees. I know nothing about your situation but I do know hers. If you get anything out of that information that helps...great.
I will say this too, I am waiting until the end of Jan for my surgery. According to the docs scales I had 4 more lbs to lose. On my scale, I was right on the goal of 22lbs. I am taking crommium to help with cravings, but I do find that the more protein I intake, the less hungry I am and the more weight I lose. If your next appointment is in Feb, you have plenty of time to lose the 10lbs. I was afraid if I lost the weight to soon, I'd give up and gain it back before January. I decided that I would remove all the items that I will have to quit eating, now so that I didn't go nuts afterwards....I have no soft drinks, no bread, no rice and no pasta now and that has helped me. Now I am maintaing the weight or losing more but sticking to what I have been doing to get to where I am right now. I allow myself a bad day here and there, and I am finding that I don't need those bad days so much anymore. I had my first diet soft drink in months last night...It really wasn't that great! I do go out to eat and eat normally for birthdays, but I don't go overboard and that is only allowed off and on.
I like the protein drinks as I get 39 grams of protein in one 8oz glass of FF milk. I usually have 2 a day sometimes three. I see it as fuel for my body. Protein helps with food cravings and I honestly found that by increasing the protein I was getting, the weight began to move. I stay at about 1200 cal a day and give myself my bad day if I need it. I also drink beef broth with those fried onions in the can in it. That is great when you are just starving! I don't even do that much now....
I sure am not one to say this is easy at all or I wouldn't be having this surgery, but I am saying this step does get better in time. It has been a life long struggle trying to get this weight off and yet, I have found these 22lbs since July has been the easiest loss I have had. There are many on this board that have had to lose a much bigger amount in a shorter amount of time for their surgeries. I admire their determination. You can do this too. You have plenty of time to lose the 10lbs. It is a mind set though. Hang in there! Up the protein, walk, and before you know it....You will have lost more than the 10lbs!
