I have never been so disappointed in politics and the crap that has gone as this year.  The media has formed and decided this vote. The media has minipulated this election like they do so many other things. It continues to get worse every year. This year has caused  more division in this country. I don't hear people  really discussing qualifications in this. I hear gender and race being the biggest issue. What upset me the most in this whole election was in watching a talk show yesterday.  They were addressing the fears of the outcome of this election...... it was not that taxes whould go up or down with whomever gets in....but that there is a real fear of riots if one party would win. NEVER in this country have we ever had to be afraid of something like that happening!
I am not a party voter....I will cross party lines in a heart beat if I like someone of a different party. I am a person voter. I will vote for who I agree with. This year I had decided not to even vote, because I was so sick of this. But then I realized how important it was that I did. I don't even know if it counts anymore if I do or don't, but for me personally I needed to feel apart of making a stand, one way or the other.  I want my grandchildren to grow up in a Nation like I grew up in.

I grew up in a Nation, *****verend God. I grew up in a Nation that respected the office of the President and it was a disgrace to make fun of or tear down that postion. It was honored. I grew up in a Nation that respected our military and supported their purpose. I grew up in a Nation of soldiers, that joined the military to serve their country, not for a college education.. I grew up in a Nation of respect and honor of others. I grew up in a Nation where children were taught to respect those in authority over them.
I grew up on a Nation that respected the police and the laws of this country I grew up in a Nation of people who didn't expect the government to provide for their every need. I grew up in a Nation that valued our rights and freedoms, knowing that they did not come without price. I grew up in a Nation that worked together not against each other. I grew up in a Nation that I am proud of!

This is what I want for my Grandchildren so I voted for the man that I felt would be the best for this country, I didn't vote for a Party, race, religion, or gender. I voted for a person who best represented my beliefs.  If I failed to do that, then I failed as an American. Apathy will also divide this country.  Please go vote your heart.

Your post brought a tear to my eye. This is exactly what I've been telling everyone of my friends and relatives who are foaming at the mouth at the outcome of the election. I was taught that regardless if you like the man who held the office, that as a patriot to this contry you had to stand behind his office. We as Americans need to remain united, and deal with this countries problems and issues as One Nation Under God, and stop bickering amongst ourselves. I voted yesterday and just becuase the man I voted for didn't win the election does not give me the right to disrespect the man who did, and it dosn't give anyone else that right either.

I believe that God put into office who he desired to serve his purpose. I totally agree. I am not upset about who won or who lost. We have to look at the decision as what HE wanted. I would respect either party or either man who is elected. Just because I didn't vote for Obama doesn't mean I will speak bad of him or disrespect his office. We will now look to him as the leader of this country and look forward to great and mighty things! I pray so anyway!  I was a Col.'s daughter and am so freaking patriotic!!  I did love the concession speach of McCain's. He is so right...we need to put ALL differences aside and support this country. I believe that it is all faith now in what God will do. History was made and now we can pray that he was right and that we will have change....

I always say if you don't vote you have no right to complain for the next 4 years.  It is not likely that my vote will make any statistical difference, but it made a huge difference to ME.  I really considered not going-why bother, it won't matter.....but the person it mattered most to was ME.

I never realized till today how easily I discount myself-and so today's vote was a good lesson.  We are all so blessed to have a right to be heard, and while voting isn't the only way we have to be heard, it is one of the most important and fundamental.

I disagree that the press "decided" the election-it is decided by voters who cast their ballots-and no amount of spin can change that.  If people choose to not exercise their right, that is a personal choice and the press can't be blamed for that.

BUT-for the love of pete, why pre-empt the Biggest Loser to count votes?  The outcome is NEWS.....not the numbers leading up to it.....sheeeeesh.

I voted, and Now I'm going to watch Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom while the reporters report on 1 plus one equals two, plus one equals three......ooooooooooooooooooh.
