Eagle's Claw

The parrot was playing on the sunporch, which was secured for bird use. Since sunporch was secure, I left the kitchen door open so I could keep an ear open for shennanigans.....Pretty soon I hear flutter, spilling and then quiet-so I got up to see. Oliver was sitting happily on the picnic table munching on a protein chip. Apparently he snuck back in the house grabbed the half bag I had sitting on the shelf by the door and tried to fly off with them.
I laughed and gave him the rest-what the heck-it's a perfect day for a picnic. I just wish I could have seen him fly off with that bag of chips-what a hoot!
(I'm always very conscious of doors/windows/open drains and locations of all animals.)

They have the brain function cognition of a three to five year old-so that's about it. He's more daring since his flight feathers grew, but I can't bear to keep him earth bound, so I just take good precautions when he's out (doors locked, windows closed). It has made a huge difference in his confidence since he's gotten mobile again.
I have a weird false room on the front of my house (I screened in a built in planter box) which I use in the winter for small dog potty room and in the summer for big snake exercise-next year it's going to be set up for Oliver's Aviary so he can yell at the neighbors.
