I know okiechick has wanted to look elsewhere to fund her surgery...this is a website I came across an I did a little looking around about and people say good things about it...

So although I was fortunate to self pay withou financing, I remember when I couldn't have afforded it and how much it would have meant to have some help....

Just another idea for your arsenal to get what you need to get the surgery done....

I have to say this....I at first was so down trying to figure out how to pay for the surgery, that I think I would have considered going out of the country or going out of the state. BUT, because of my health issues....I could not take a chance of going anywhere, but locally. I could not allow my desire for WLS to outweigh the need to be practical and safe. With 3 stents, being diabeitc, high blood pressure, and being on plavix, I could not take a chance with my life, by going somewhere that no one was  aware of my medical conditions.  It is vital to be upfront with all the doctors involved. My heart doctor, my PCP and Dr. Walton, all know all of my desires and conditions. We will all work together to have the safest surgery for me, even if I have to wait until the end of January.  I am not scrimping on medical care in the slightest by going to Dr. Walton. He is one of the best. So I know I am in safe hands and I am getting a resonable price.with the most safe results.
I know that going else where can and may be an option, but for me I felt that at least I can speak to many people who have used Dr. Walton, had my same surgery and can hear testimonies of their  experience. That,  to me was a major decision in choosing Weight Wise. That and being close to my other doctors in case I needed them for anything. My financing came from my mother who has complained about my weight all my life....I guess she is putting her money where her mouth was all these years. Ok that was tacky, but it is true. She is helping to save my life now, and I will be eternally grateful to her, not to mention she probably wont let me forget it! That's ok....I'll gracefully take it!
Without insurance, I am paying for the preop tests and all out of pocket....really shallow pockets too,  but Insurance often pays for those as routein health care....Many are blessed to at least get those covered on their path to the surgery. I would estimate that to be around 3,000.

These are just my thoughts on the subject, along with the suggestion to go to the Seminars as that will help anyone with the decision of the type of surgery you are looking at and the prices of each of those....That will be the best place to start. Then you can begin your search for doctors and hospitals.  I personally would suggest you start with Weight Wise as they don't care if you choose them or not...they want you to be informed. Then if you feel you want more infor....go to another at another clinic. This is your own personal future...be  well informed.
