How are you guys handling the Halloween candy?

What is your plan for dealing with the beginning of candy and sweets season?  From this point until January 2 it will pretty much be an eating fest in most places.  What is your plan to avoid getting back into old habits?

I have discovered, unfortunately, that my sleeve happily accepts sugar and crapo foods. I was praying I would get icky.  No such luck.

For Halloween I bought candy that does not call my name- well at least too loudly.  NO chocolate allowed this year!  I haven't figured out the rest of the eating season yet.  Suggestions??  Plans???
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

LIke you, I have discovered that the banana is ok with carbs and it tells me if I've had too much sugar.  My plan to get thru this "festive" time of year is to constantly have something in my hand to drink.  I've retrained my brain to want  water when I think I'm hungry.  So when I'm thinking I'm hungry at an odd time (snack time), I make myself believe I'm really just thirsty.  Truth be told, I probably am. Getting thru Halloween by sending the kids to the grandparents.  We live on an acreage so no ghosts and goblins here anyway.  Going to The Happiest Place On Earth (that is until we get there) for Thanksgiving.  That leaves Christmas.......oh boy.  Can't wait to hear what everyone else is going to do.

Halloween, I always buy something I'm not crazy for.  It makes it easy to resist.  Thanksgiving is at my house, I get to control what's served.  Things at the office, I go way out of my way to avoid seeing what is there.  I figure what I don't know won't hurt me.  I like the idea of keeping something to drink in my hand.  I definitely will be using that one.  The other thing, I think I will be sure and eat before I go.  That way I will definitely get sick if I try to eat more !

I am so lucky I guess because candy and chocolate doesn't taste good anymore.  Yes, I tried.  Dark chocolate is okay (I hated dark chocolate before) but milk chocolate tastes gross.  Sweets make me feel icky.

I am not buying any candy...my kids will have to go get their own!!  As for the holidays, I can't overeat on anything or I will hurl...so I agree...eat before you go if you don't think you can handle the temptation.....or don't stay long enough to graze youself into trouble!  Drinking constantly is a great idea too!

Denise, my plan is to take each day as it comes and try not to think about it too much. I definately will not be bringing any bad stuff into my house, because if it is there it will call my name. I also plan on making WLS dishes to have around over all the holidays to come. There are just tons and tons of awesome sounding wls friendly recipes on OH. I look forward to trying some of them. Now , I am not saying it is going to be easy, however I have come to far to turn back now. Best of luck to everyone and may the force be with us. LOL. Rita

To be quite honest, I have not been tempted by sweets at all -- at least so far. But just to be sure -- I bought pretzels to give out. For thanksgiving I plan on making the same items but in smaller quantities. Now that all the boys are married they usually do thanksgiving both here and at inlaws houses and there is always too much food anyway. Christmas will be the hardest as I usually make pasta -- it is easier for us and the kids love when I make homemade lasagna. I may just do that and make ricotta bake for me -- that  is the best part of the lasagna anyway!

I am one of those that can eat candy..I do get nauseated so my plans for holloweenie is simple I am giving out healthy treats..prepacked apples slices if I have any treaters.
For me the next 2 months is hard on me I do a lot of candy making and desserts for catering Plus I have a huge dinner party that I do for Christmas so I hope that I will be to sick of food to even be tempted
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I buy treats the day of-and it's usually fruit leathers or something like that.  I'm so conflicted-because I know the kids WANT the mars bars, and I know that it's not healthy for them.  After the trick or treat-I either chuck it or give it away.

Thanksgiving is at my house but any leftovers I don't want will go down to Mom's for the evening dinner/sanwiches.  I don't know what we'll do for Christmas, but again, it's a one day thing....I don't have candy or stuff around the house.

I try to limit my treats during this time to seasonal things-I do eat a small amount of junk anyway, and I just focus on getting the best items for my treats...

Last year we did a 10 days in December without sweets challenge, so I didn't get dessert for Christmas dinner and the world stayed on its axis.

My plans is to eat, eat, and eat until I puke then I'm pretty sure I'll fall into a diabetic coma.

Seriously, holidays aren't really an issue for me so I haven't thought about it.
