More Moon (Happy Monday)

I have two cute photos of Moon in the critters file-the handsome fellow with him is his father Sage....in the touching photo of them sharing a snack, you can only see my hand because Sage is sitting in my lap (which come to think of it, is now smaller than a large border collie....LOL)

Sage is gorgeous and BIG.  Is Sage larger than normal for a border collie?  As always, Moon is a pretty boy.

A lot of Sage is fur-he's pretty heavily coated-compared to the younger males, he looks like a big glorious lion.  (Moon is a short coat, so he isn't ever going to have that ruff-but I like the shorties for the wash and wear hair...)

Males are usually much bigger and heavier boned than the females-also most of the sport dogs (agility, etc) you see are neutered and that probably cuts back a bit on the awesome display (of fur, not those other things....)

So-the long answer, is "he's larger than what you see-but for an intact adult male, he's probably mid range".   I think Males typically run 45-55 pounds, females 35-45.

OMG they are such beautiful merles.  I need to take some pics of my borthers Australian Shephard merles for you to see.  I love that color pattern on a dog.

I love merles too.  Sage is a blue-tri-and he's sired some red tri pups that were just out of this world gorgeous, and great performance dogs too. (not that I'm dissing my blues)
