What's for breakfast?

I've heard other members recommend turkey bacon, turkey sausage... but I want to know what YOU have for breakfast!

Everything is so carb/fat driven in the mornings!

I try to do the cottage cheese/yogurt thing, but it gets old. I just got some chocolate Malt-o-Meal, that was a good change and I'd forgotten how much I like it, but I used to put honey in it to sweeten it.. now, it's the pink stuff. *sigh*

So I just want to get some new ideas.... I'd REALLY like to have canteloupe! LOL

Fire away!

I'm boring....I have a protein bar every day like clockwork.  Not much on breakfast because everyhing makes me queasy in the mornings...was that way before surgery...so I kind of have to make myself eat something....so I do the protein bar.

Hi.
Not sure if you'd like these or tolerate them, but...
1) Small strips of steak, sauteed with mushrooms, in a little butter
2) Omelet, with ham, cheese or cheese & mushrooms or cheese & peppers, etc.
3) Steel-cut oatmeal (sometimes I just have to!)
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Mary

The oatmeal sounds good, but I was told I couldn't have that or rice ever again... ? Are steel cut different?

You wouldn't want to eat oatmeal everyday, even steel-cut, but every once in a while, it's good. One cup of steel-cut oatmeal has 17g. protein, compared to 5g. of the instant stuff (if I recall). Steel-cut oatmeal contains a good amount of B-vitamins, calcium, protein and fiber. It may be hard to digest, for RNYers. I don't know. Perhaps the carbs are higher than what our nut. would want. Always follow your nut.'s advice. I'm pre-op, I love cereal, so this seems like a healthier alternative, at least for the time being. Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Mary

One egg scrammbled, 2 slices of already cooked bacon I get the thin strips and 1 carb/balance tortillia from Mission.....

yum yum!  Although I have to eat it really slow, and I can only eat half of it but I do eat ALL of the bacon on it.

I sampled the end of someone's regular bacon at work the other day, just to see what it did. It was about an inch and a half long.. didn't make me sick. Gonna have to look for those tortillas! Thanks :)

Banana or apple with peanut butter, Atkins chocolate peanut butter advantage bar, scrambled eggs with or without cheese, a slice of deli turkey with a slice of cheese rolled up in it,  a piece of turkey sausage, left over chicken breast -- really whatever is high in protein and sounds good for the day.  I really enjoy omelets on the weekend, and also the flax cereal with berries and milk.

Good morning!  I'm off today so I am having left over BBQ chicken from Rib crib.  During the week I am usually at work so I eat a cheese stick and a few almonds because it is easy to eat at my desk.  About two days a week I stop by Grandys and get some of their scrambled eggs...they do them soft with cheese.  -Amy
