When you get fills do they make you drink the nasty stuff to see on x-ray
how good the liquid is passing through like they did after surgery?  Thanks.

I have never had to do that i beleive they do that if the think there is some kind of problem,,,, the fill is not  big deal , the numb the area, , which is a stick that kind of smarts a little , but then you dont feel the actual fill at all, it takes a very short time and thats it.

Hello! Glad you are back safe and sound.  My surgeon offers me a choice since I live 3 hours from his office.  I can do just the fill or have it done under flouroscopy like you described.  The difference, as I understand it, is they can see how the barium is going through the stoma, but if you just get the fill they have you drink some water and hope for the best.  So it depends on who does your fill and what they feel is best.  Hope you are doing well!

Thanks CJ.  I'm feeling great.  Lost 10 pounds the first week.  Decided not to weigh except every
week on Wed.  When do you get your first fill?  I have to wait till after Thanksgiving.  It's so odd
not to be hungry, first time in my life I think.  It's a good thing!  Your doing fantastic, 18#  wow,
good girl.  Thanks again,  Judy

Judy, I have my first fill on 11/17.  My friend who had the surgery the same day is planning to have hers under flouro but I am thinking I will just go to the office and have mine done.  I am also waiting a week to weigh again, mine fluctuates too much on a daily basis!!
Take care, CJ

CJ,

Let me know how it goes.  --- My doctor warned me about not having the fill done under
flouro, said there were people who had damage to the tube, or port that were having to
come in for replacements.  I am concerned about that, even though they charge so much
to use the flouro.  Maybe I should ask that on the forum, if any people have had that
problem.  I would sure hate to have to go back for more surgery.  Plus I like the idea
when you are under the flouro, they can see how thight they have your band by you
drinking the 'nasty' stuff.  It's a hard toss up, saving a lot of money - taking a risk, being
safe, spending money........  hopefully after the first fill and talking to 'my new U.S.
doctor I will feel more secure about the whole thing.

Thanks,
Judy

I had my first fill under Floro and you have to drink the nasty stuff so they can see it on x-ray.

My second fill was in the Dr's office and I just had to drink water.

Neither one hurt although I did have some bruising around the port both times.

Good luck!
