need help
I was recently told my the surgeon office, that the cardiologist, did not approve me for the surgery, due to the fact that I take coumadin (an anti couglant tht prevents blood clots from forming). I know that i'm not the only person that has or waiting to have the gastric that takes this medicine.
The nurse called me back and referred me to another heart specialist. You are required to pass the ekg and echo-gram and I passed them both. So if anyone has any advice for me. I will appreciate your comments.
Thanks, desperately seeking advice.

Linda,
most everyone will not like my answer, but it it a real world answer to help you get your approval. Get a new primary care provider who knows NOTHING of anything you're taking or ailments, then let him know you're thinking about Weightloss surgery but you wanted a physical, then let him or her give you their approval, and when the insurance company sugests you go to the next step, go to a completely different doctor for the heart specialist and all of the other docs you want to see to get the approval.....HOWEVER....doing this means YOU are risking YOUR health and I could not condone doing this but it is a solution to your problem and I have heard of others doing the same thing. So go into this as informed as you can and weigh your risks carefully. If you've passed the required tests, you can get the results of that test and give them to your surgeon as proof you've completed those requirements successfully and you won't be out of pocket those expenses....
OR you could go to Mexico...party your hind-end off for a few days....maybe even find some "vacation love" and then go into surgery by a doctor *****ally doesn't require what they require in the States.... but then again....it's your life.... I'll not judge you either way... after all, i don't walk in your shoes and hey, everyone has to make difficult choices to be happy.... I know I made them until i was happy and it got me everything I could want and more...
See ya.... oh crud... I forgot my disclosure statement ("I'm not a doctor, I just play one in bed"), there you go...now you know...

I also want to be able to play miss doctor in bed.. and be happy and well doing it... (LOL)..

So, did the second heart specialist approve you or was there another problem? If two cardiologists are saying no, then perhaps you need to listen to what they are saying rather than just wanting what you want. Remember, the goal is health, not just weight loss, and if there is something getting in the way of your surgery, address it, then have the surgery.
Going to Mexico and with holding information about what you are taking (in this case coumadin) would likely mean that you'd bleed to death and the poor Mexican docs would get a bad rap for something that was your fault. I hope Cowboy was just being a smart aleck, but in case he wasn't-that's a really a$$-hat thing to suggest.

as for me....I'm lucky that I was healthy as a horse... I'm highly fortunate that I haven't felt better than I do now and that my bloodpressure remains 112 over 67.....and i'm running about 10 miles per week with 112 pounds less on my stealthy frame...although i still don't recognize the super handsome man in the mirror....
wink, wink..

Cowboy-do you really think, in you heart of hearts, the American doctors CARE more than the Mexican doctors, or could it be they are just more likely to be sued over here? It all comes down to the dollar, else they'd be giving the surgery away for free.
I don't think you are an A$$ hat (or naive either.....LOL)....but I just wanted to point out I said it was an A$$ hat thing to say-not that YOU were an A$$ hat-but I do like using that term a lot-so thanks for letting me get it out of my system.
