Advice for Pre-Op Folks

I'm almost six months out and I've got an idea for all those who are pre-op:  have surgery NOW in the fall - don't wait for spring.   If you do it now, then by the time you've lost your insulation, it will be summer instead of winter...  Summer was comfortable, but I'm afraid I may have to go into hibernation for this winter.

Dayummmmm - I am freezing my patootie off these last few days, and it's not even winter yet!
  <--- That's me turning blue!

I can't say I wasn't warned, but, good grief, I just didn't understand what everyone was saying until it happened to me.  I have been sitting at my desk in t-shirt, shirt, sweater, and jacket every day, and my fingers are still almost too cold to be able to type.   I'm putting a desk heater on my shopping list for tomorrow.  Brrrrrr.

Hope everyone else is keeping warm.  No telling how miserable it could be once it actually gets to be winter instead of early fall.

Can anybody give me some hope that this will start to even out eventually?

Happy Friday,
John

John - I sooooo relate to this! I loved the summer; I have been freezing my hiney for the last few days as well - it is actually worse than what it was right after surgery last February! (maybe less padding is the cause!!!) I cannot even imagine when the winter gets here. I am already in sweaters and heavy jackets...and yes I do have a heater under my desk!

Same here, and I don't even have a coat.  Since loosing 50lbs so far my old coat looks like a tent on me, I will prob. buy me a new one next week.  But you are so right, I was usually the one in the house that wasn't cold, but now I'm the one who is complaining the most about it being cold.

Yep John, that is so me as well.  I already have my small heating under my desk and my fingers are so stiff!!!  I'll take this any day over sweating all the time though.  You can only take off so many clothes....not pretty either!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I am pre-op and I am always cold....

I was at my initial appointment with Dr. Gorospe and I was freezing in the room I was in...he told me I was in trouble once he was through with me. What am I gonna be like when I am thin if I am already freezing with all of this padding??!?!?!?

Ok I must be the only hot natured post-op out there LoL... It's only 71 in my house right now and my poor husband says he is freezing.  I am only 130 lbs and my husband swears my body heat is like a furnace.  I guess maybe I am the glimmer of hope for you guys that you'll get warmer eventually hehe.  *hugs to all* Stay warm!

Yes - there is hope!!!

Thanks for the shining light of future warmth!  (Do you remember if it was always that way for you?  Not sure I'll make it to 4 yrs post-op at this temp. )

Yes, I too am always cold.  Right now I have on my shirt, jeans, t-shirt, sweater and the space heater going !!!  The good news is every break I have I go up and down stairs to get warmed up a little bit -- and that counts for exercise, too.  I think raising your metabolism might help, too.

Hmm...you should be ME, where there's a natural internal sun shining 24/7! Gotta love menopause (NOT). I could wear a sweater in Alaska.
I can't wait to get to Heaven. I've already told the Lord that I want just 2 minutes with Eve, outside the Pearly Gates! THEN, I'll come on in! :)
