Changing Suregons

WOW!  What a DAY I have had.
I decided to check with my insurance 1 more time before I head further into my WLS journey!  It seems like everytime I call the insurance or e-mail them I get a different answer.  Today I got an answer I didn't want!

The first of September I decided to go to a doctor closer to my home.  I knew my out-of-pocket was going to be more but It wasn't a significant amount so I changed because my DR was in-network.

I'm very happy that I worded my question to the insurance right today with my question.  The response I got from them was...My surgeon will be paid at the maximum.  However, the hospital he works at will only be paid at 60% because he's not a Blue Distinction Center.  I was really upset but I don't have the extra cash to pay for this surgery and I think it would be CRAZY to pay extra when I can Drive to OKC for my surgery and have my insurance pay MUCH more. Remember my "Puppy fund".  So I am going to Dr. Gornichec in OKC and my surgery will be at Integris.  I should have a date the first week of Nov.

I called Kim in the office today and she is such a sweetheart!  She got ALL of my apts scheduled MONDAY the 27th because I told her I was coming that day for his seminar.  I don't know how she did it but I need to get her something special for treating me like I am royalty!  She was so nice to do that for me!

So, I will be in OKC all day Monday.  I have 4 hours from 1:30 - 5:30 open if any of you OKC people have any time.  I don't know my way around OKC very well.  I have been to Brick Town a few times.  Anyway!  I'll be there if anyone wants to do an early dinner or late lunch!  I will be ready to eat because I have to go fasting to the Dr.!

Sherry, I can bring the masks and hoses if you can meet me someplace!  Maybe you can go eat with me? ANyone???

Luanne,
I had no idea Kim was his Wife!  She is the NICEST person.  I told her that I didn't know if the Dr. knew how important his staff is to his practice.  Because she has been such a good person to me.  When I decided to change surgeon's to one closer to me I felt bad for leaving her.  I hadn't met her in person, only on the phone and through e-mails.  But she was totally for me doing what I thought was best for me!
I was worried about her wanting me back.  But she made all the arrangements in a few hours.  I just Really like her!  I'm going to do something really nice for her!  She deserves it!

Thanks for your info! LOL!

Hi, Kim.
Aren't you glad you called! See...everything is working out. You'll do fine. This must be an executive decision from the Guy Upstairs. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Mary,
You are right about it being a decision from the Guy Upstairs!  I know you aren't supposed to test God and I wasn't "testing" him But I prayed for him to show me what he wanted.  I wanted his will to be done in my life.  So before I called a friend today that I hadn't talked to in a while I prayed to God that if Adam, my friend, had had complications and wasn't doing well from his WLS that that would be my Sign to walk away...I hadn't talked to him in a while so I had NO idea how he was doing!  I called and talked to my friend, his wife!  She said he was doing AMAZING!  So well in fact that he is going to be fine without plastic surgery.  The last time I talked to him he was facing a full body lift to get rid of all of his loose skin.  (He was a BIG boy!)  She said he followed the doctors orders to a T and is doing very WELL!  I was so relieved, for him but for me too!  So now I have prayed that if God wants this for me that my insurance will be approved and I will have no more obsticles!  He has shown me something everyday...almost Pushing me to go ahead with this.  LIke I said in another post I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and yesterday I went to the Dr. with Bubbly chest pains and I was diagnosed with GERD!  So I have LOTS of co-morbidities that are coming to light just in the last 2 months!  I thought I was basically healthy, so I thought!
I am very much at ease with my decision right now and I have faced my doubts and I'm doing whats right for me!
Thank you for your support!
Kim

I totally agree with what u said Mary...cuz I can relate. Before thinking of this surgery and during the testing process...I asked God, if this was his plan for me. He has opened every door and really all in all...minus a few setbacks with insurance and push back surgery dates and what nots..the process has been really smooth. I didnt want to embark on this journey without his ok on it. I have such a peace now...even while I am waiting for Nov 17 to come. To Kim: U go girl...keep the main thang...the main thang

My sister in law had her surgery about 1 1/2 years ago and used Dr. Gornichec.  She loved him and he did an awesome job for her as well.  I have visited with his staff as well but since I was going to be self-pay I couldn't afford him and then the other wonderful possibility for me can up with WeightWise and Dr. Walton.  I believe that Dr. Gornichec, Dr. Brussard and Dr. Walton would be the only 3 surgeons that I would even consider doing this for me.  I don't know much about Dr. Gorspe but I know others have been extremely pleased as well as for the folks who used the people at Norman.  We all h ave to do our own research and work with our insurance companies.  I KNOW I would have used Dr. Gornichec if my insurance would have paid for him.  That's why we have insurance...right?  Just think, this will allow you to get a little ahead with your puppy fund as well!!!  That's awesome that you're having your appointments all on the same day.  That's what I call service.  I typically get off work at 4:00 and work very very close to Integris.  Depending on things with my Mom I might be able to meet up with you after work.  I have been working straight through lunch and leaving at 3:00 to go spend time with her after work.  I will PM you my phone numbers so I can hook up with you.  Way to go girlfriend...your time is very near!!!
