MY SON GOT HIS LEARNERS PERMIT TODAY AND I FEEL SO OLD. I WANTED HIM TO STAY LITTLE AND CALL ME MOMMY FOREVER AND EVER.
I KNOW IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT BUT A MOMMY CAN WISH CAN'T SHE?
HE LOOKS SO CUTE WITH IT. I PUT SOME PICTURES OF US WITH HIM AND HIS NEW PERMIT. OF COURSE AFTER I WORKOUT TODAY WE HAVE TO GO DRIVING. HE IS DOING THE PARENT TAUGHT DRIVERS ED SO HE HAS TO PUT IN 55 HRS OF DRIVING TIME BEFORE HE TAKES HIS FINAL TEST. AND THEN HE HAS TO HAVE HIS PERMIT FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE HE CAN GET HIS DRIVERS LICENSE SO HE WILL BE A LITTLE OVER HIS 16TH BIRTHDAY BEFORE HE GETS IT. DO YOU THINK I CAN TALK HIM OUTTA GETTING IT AND LETTING ME TAKE CARE OF HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE? YEAH I DIDN'T THINK SO EITHER.
I'M GONNA GO CRY FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND THEN PICK MYSELF UP AND GO DRIVING WITH HIM. WISH US LUCK.

I'll be saying the same things in about one year or so!! My daughter is 14 and 1/2 and she just cannot wait for the day she can drive! And to think that years ago this day seemed so far away! Personally, I dread the day that she get behind the wheel with a license, because the girl is so geographically challenged, it's not even funny! I know I am going to get calls from her about being lost!! Plus, I worry about her using her cell phone while driving....I have started to tell her about what to do and not do while driving, hopefully it's sinking in. I don't know about boys, but girls want to grow up so fast that they kind of forget to pay attention to important stuff along the way.

yeah we have had the no talking on cellphones while driving speech just today. hopefully it takes root in his brain!

My daughter got her permit a few months ago. I guess it was right after she turned 16. I was so happy. Now, I don't have to do all the driving. Sorry it made you feel old. It is sad to watch our babies grow up. After saying that though, I will be glad when the last one is out of the house and I can have time to myself........LOL. I guess after 4 kids that is how you feel.

OH Lady! I feel your pain!
I have a 22 year old and a 17 year old then my 8 year old! I also have a 7 mo old Grandson! They grow so fast! I know how much you wish you could just say Stop growing for a little while! I have said that to mine! OMgsh! It happens over night!
Keep your chin up and your tierra on! You look beautiful!
And not old at all!

maybe one of these days someone will invent something to keep them from growing up. i doubt it though. i try to think about how i felt when i was growing up and then i try to be excited for him but it's just not working!!

I must be a terrible mother! I couldn't wait for my kids to get to their next "milestone." I was like, "Hurry up! Start talking! Let's get you potty-trained! Preschool--check. Kindergarten--check...Learner's Permit--check...Graduation--check." I think Emily understands, and since we each have 4 children, maybe that's why.
I'm sorry you're feeling blue about this, though. (I'm not totally insensitive.) :)
