I Celebrate in Silence.

A 17 yr old with an attitude?  Surely not!!!  How can that be?  Your daughter can't have an attitude, my baby girl (just turned 18 end of Aug) has the market cornered on that.  Who ever knows what goes on in those heads -- I don't think they even know.  I so agree with the others: this hacks me off too, and don't let her steal your thunder!!  How many times have you read on these posts, "This is YOUR time."  Good idea to sit and have a talk with her, and let her know how this makes you feel.  Is she afraid she is losing the mother she has always known?  I have to often tell my daughter: "It isn't always about you, Kate!!!"  I'm not sure she really understands that though.     And, congratulations on your great weight loss and on the healthier you.  Good luck, Michael

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

You've gotten some great advice. Glittergal hit it right on. You know what? You don't have to celebrate in silence. You celebrate right out loud on here AND at home. If she doesn't like it,, too bad. Celebrate with us any time. (that's Crystal Light in that mug)

Whatever goes on at home, know that here everyone is proud of you and supports you.  Keep up the good work!

I had another thought I wanted to post about this.  By being silent, you are teaching her by example to hide her achievements too.  I tihnk that's something as "modest females" we were taught, and I think, by golly , it's time to unteach ourselves that little trick.  Men have it right on that one-thump your chest and crow to the world.......weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I AM SO SORRY THAT SHE IS NOT HAPPY FOR YOU AT THIS TIME. GIVE HER SOME TIME BECAUSE THERE WILL COME A DAY THAT SHE WILL REALIZE HOW MUCH HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER YOU ARE AND SHE WILL BE HAPPY FOR YOU. THAT MAY NOT BE ANYTIME SOON BUT I THINK IT WILL HAPPEN.
MAYBE YOU COULD INVITE HER TO EXERCISE WITH YOU AND SHE CAN SEE HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME.
I HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT FOR YOU!!

AND WE WILL CELEBRATE WITH YOU!! YOU NEED TO GET YOU A BRIGHT PINK TIARRA LIKE I DID AND WEAR IT AROUND ALL DAY! YOU WILL FEEL LIKE A PRINCESS AND YOU DESERVE IT!

Your daughter needs a whoopin!!!!! LOL  I cant believe she is being so selfish!!!! You are her Mother, you have raised and nurtured her;  U put bandaides on her booboo's, rocked her in your arms when she couldnt sleep or was sick and crying.  The least she can do is be happy for you!!!!

CONGRATS on your successs!!!! I am super happy for you! One day your daughter will regret not being your support!!!!

I would go ahead and talk to her when you're not upset by something she says.  Go ahead and set her down and tell her you're sorry she's threatened by this, but you're still the same mom you have always been and you need HER support.  I've never known my girls to not support me when I have needed them.  Good luck !
