Help!
I know that I should be able to handle this myself, but I started getting really dizzy about 2 hours ago. I have taken in some liquid carbohydrate and I know I am getting enough water. Is this normal? I am 7 days post op and still in the liquid phase. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

Liquid carbs? like soda? Alcohol? I too have gotten dizzy from alcohol and yes, it is normal...but other than that....no... I haven't touched the stuff since before the surgery though...
So what was it that you drank? Water with something?
T.
No alcohol, I am not so sure that will ever be a good idea (my nut told me there was now way to know how I will react to it after my surgery, besides, just empty cals, no thanks!). I made a shake with frozen yogurt and powdered peanut butter, and I guess it helped, I am feeling no dizziness now. Guess I just haven't been getting enough carbs today, so I will count better tomorrow. I just am not hungry at all, how weird it is to have to remind myself to eat (make that drink) something!! Guess that is why the WLS works, huh? Thanks for the reply, I think it just scared me a little that it took so long to go away.

Hi, CJ.
Please let your surgeon know of this, and talk to the nutritionist. Probably nothing to worry about, but whenever your body reacts to something, there's a reason, and it's good to find out what the reason is and how to avoid the reaction in the future.
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks for the reply's. I will keep an eye on this and if it happens again I will call Dr. Gornichec's office. After I had time to think about it, I am pretty sure it was too few carbs for the day as the yogurt shake made me feel much better. It was the first adverse reaction I've had since surgery and I just wanted some reassurance,I guess. Appreciate all the support!!

At 7 days out I would still be fighting off effects of the anesthesia. The band, while not as invasive as some, is STILL major surgery-a little bit more than having a tooth filled or something like that. I think a lot of bandsters have too high expectations of recovery time....I know I did.
I hope you are feeling better now.
