I'm three weeks out of surgery. I started on mushies last week. I know that most people stall when they go on to mushies but how long does that last???? Its been 6 days since I've lost anything and I'm starting to get discouraged even though I know that I shouldn't.

Help me!!!

Most folks stall for a week to 2 weeks once they start mushies.  Make sure you take your measurements during the stall.  You are almost certainly losing inches.  I stalled longer than normal- my body is WAAAAY too efficient- but lost significant inches during that time.  At one point I had lost 11 pounds but 20+ inches!  I have no idea how that is possible but it happens to almost everyone.  The most important thing is to keep eating, following your doc's instructions and you will begin losing again.

I was certain I was the only person this surgery would fail to help lose weight.  I was wrong!  I even got a little psycho during my stall.  Don't follow my example.  Hang tough! This surgery (which ever WLS you had) works!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

My good friend who is a pre-med student learned why we don't lose weight but we lose inches. She told me but is a little technical so she lost me. It has something to do with your moy redistributing the fat to the vital organs where it is needed most because our bodies basically think we are in a famine situation. It was pretty interesting! Our bodies definately wonderful machines!

But knowing something and accepting something are two different things. Having an approximate length of time really helps settle my nerves. Thanks!

HappyCat is right, I know with me I stalled for one week when I started mushies.  Finally today I came off my last stall that lasted almost 3 weeks.  Stalls suck but there is a reason for them.  Hey HappyCat we both have only 48 lbs to loose to make goal!!! It is so exciting.   Lisa

For those of you who haven't heard it from me before ---- early (EARLY) in your journey it is a BODY READJUSTMENT!!!  Stalls are really later on...your body has to get accustomed to new data and issues so that it can move on.  Be patient.  You didn't gain it in one day so you aren't going to lose it that way either.

For those who have heard it before - b*te me (again)... roflmao

Love to all...

STOP THE DAMN INSANITY!!!!
You are not stalling how can you be??? Your body is saying what..no carbs??? no fat un we need to stop and kinda catch up with whats going on....A true stall happens months out when you dont lose for 2 weeks after that you hit a plateau...
Throw your scales into the trash they are your enemy...and scales are like leacherous men they lie to ya in the morning and tell ya what you want to hear at night...

Everyone here has always been helpful but today I feel absolutely attacked by asking a simple question.

I have not been weighing every day. I'm sorry I called it a stall when its not. Someone else here said everyone encountered a stall when they switched to mushies. I'm sorry I'm only 3 weeks into my journey and haven't picked up the proper lingo yet. I knew to expect this, I just asked how long it was going to last. I really feel like I need to go to the corner to lick my wounds from the lashing I got here. Geez!
