LaDetra
Try a different brand or flavor. That can make a difference. I blend mine and add ice, so it's more slushy. If it's not COLD, my first response is "Yuck." Add Splenda. Just try different things. You'll find what works for you.

You will find so many recipes on this site.....recipes for drinks, shakes, ice cream...preop and post op and anything else you need. I think this will help you find what you need.
I guess I have neuropathy in my mouth because I like my protein drink, and that seems to be unusual....It has 26 gms of protein and 2 carbs. I put it in coffee, I add vanilla and splenda and just drink it hot, cold...or what ever....I also add sugar free syrups or just fruit or fruit flavorings to it to change up the flavor....I have put it in pudding when I made it. I just hope I like it after this surgery! LOL
Good luck
LaDetra, I use the Body Fortress Whey Protein from Wal-mart, it tastes pretty good and doesn't leave an after taste. It has like 30 grams of protein per scoop when combined with skim milk. One of the other support group leaders also told me about this great powdered peanut butter ( it's made from real peanuts) from bellplantation.com, I bought some for my after surgery shakes, it is awesome! It also comes in peanut butter with chocolate. You can also get the sugarfree syrups at Wal-mart, the are with the coffee, I think the brand is Da Vinci? Having the shake cold or with ice as suggested helps also.
If you really can't get past the taste there are non-milk based protein supplements. GNC has Isopure or you can get Beneprotein powder, it is oderless and tasteless and I add it to broth, pudding, yogurt, even water. It only has 6 gm protein so unless you use one of the higher protein containing products you would have to add it to about everything!
Hope this information is helpful.

I don't know because I am also Pre-op but I have heard not to buy a lot of protein powders right now because your taste will change after surgery. I would probably just buy a little of what you like for now and have some available for after surgery but you may find that you don't like them anymore. It might save you some cash!!! Just a thought!
Like I said in an earlier post...I'm not doctor, I just play one here! LOL!
