I HAVE ANOTHER ULCER & MORE!

Hello,

It's been a rough week.  Most of you know my dh is ill and needs a liver transplant.  We had an appt. Tuesday at the U of MI and basically were told that Steve has only about 2-3 months more unless he gets a new liver.  He is on the list, in the "top ten" and we are hoping we hear some good news very soon.

As for me, Friday night was spent at the hospital.  I have another stomach/pouch ulcer.  Fortunately, the pain I was having was so severe that it got me to go to the ER early enough so that any blood loss was minimal so I did not need any transfusions.  Like the last time (Feb. 2006) I will be on several meds over the next few months to heal.  Strange thing with my first ulcer I had no pain, just felt quite tired but had no clue that anything was wrong until I began passing blood.  I'll see Dr. Foote on Thursday for an endoscopy.

If one more person (like the drs at the hospital) tells me to "try not to get so stressed" I just may hit them.  People that make stupid suggestions like that have no idea what life has been like for me/us these last few years since Steve became ill.

Please hold us in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi, Pam.
You know how I feel--Steve's getting that liver! I'm so sorry that you're experiencing pain, but it sounds like the medicine will do the trick. Get well, quickly. (No pressure)
I'm so relieved to hear from you, Pam. Please keep us updated. I continue to pray, daily.
Blessings,
Mary

Hey, Pam.
I was just thinking... Have you been tested for H-pylori? H-pylori is a bacteria that settles in the stomach lining and is recognized to cause ulcers (rather than the old "you must be stressed" cause). The test is a blood test, and, if you test positive, the treatment is a 2-week triple antibiotic regimen. It might be worth a look see.
If you have H-pylori, even after treatment, you will always test positive, as you have the antibodies, but you are fine. They can do a follow-up breathing or stool sample test, to make sure you're cured.
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Mary,

I was tested the first time and was negative for h-pylori.  As far as I know they did not check for that with this latest one.  I see my surgeon on Thursday for an endoscopy and I would think he will test for that then.

Thanks so much for your concern.

Pam I am sorry to inform you that you can not be the compication guru of this rrom..that title is mine...But I will alllow you to wear the crown....
I would askk your surgeon if by chance you have a hole there...to me since I have had to 2 hernias is sounds more like that then an ulcer.
With h ploria which I also have there are no signs of having it...its a bacteria that is common in most of the population. And the treatment is not pleasant..the anti biotics made my tongue turn black...just in time for halloween.
And I will say this....if you can not fix it by worrying then let it go...
the stress from worrying is worse then anthing on your body.
I am a true believer in the power of prayer. So instead of worrying...send GOD an email..put all your fears and troubles in it and let GOD's will be done....by the way if you need to scream yell or throw punches I am available....or just cry on someones shoulder....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
