Okay this one is for all you Posties. I have that ever dreaded (by Me) curse of thoes dark skin patches where my skin touches it's self (on my inner thighs, underarms, underbelly, and the ring around my neck) Is this something that any of the rest of you have had and then noticed it disapear or is it something that i'll have to deal with even as a skinny girl? I've always been very self concious about it and it's always been bothersome, especially around my neck...I'm always afraid to get my hair cut too short because of it and I hate it!

DeWitney, I remember watching a show about weight loss and there were these twins that had that dark ring around the neck.  The doctor on the show told them it was related to metabolic syndrome.  After they lost weight the ring disappeared, apparently it's a skin pigmentation change related to obesity/metabolic syndrome.  Anyway, hope this helps, it's probably best to ask your doctor about it if it is concerning you.

Do any of those places itch?  I have some from time to time.  More so before WLS and mine were a skin fungas.  I had to take oral medication and use cream.  It is very annoying.  I've only had it in one spot lately and it's under my arm.

from time to time they itch and get irritated, especially under my belly and inside my thighs, the Dr. Said it was yeast and put me on an oral and cream as well, it takes away the irritation and itchyness but I'm left with the dark blochieness. The Dr. I talked to said it was a symptom of the obesity but I wonder...would the symptom go away if the obesity went??

I hope the dark places go away.  A lot of mine have.  Another thing you need to make sure of is especiall those under the "girls" you need to make sure that you change undergarmets daily.  I found the cream to be helpful but when I took the one pill for the yeast it nipped it for a long time.

I'm bettin it goes away.  I didn't have that but I did have the big hump back and it is practically gone now.  I have skin tags though...ewwwww those hangy down mole looking things.  They are caused by friction of the skin.  I think my 100 lb loss reward will be to have those ugly things cut off!

I went to a class not long ago where they were talking about metabolilc syndrome and the dark pigment under arms and in groin area.  They did say that it went away when the metabolic syndrome was resolved usually by weight loss
