back on protonix

I stopped protonix a week ago after I posted the question about it.  I did fine for a couple of days and then kept feeling this funny feeling in my upper chest area.  It was like heart burn or anything it was just a weird funny slight pain type sensation.  Finally after a week I decided it must be reflux...duh...I'm a bit slow.  After two days of protonix the weird feeling went away.  So...sigh... I guess I will stay on protonix for a while longer.

I'm glad you're feeling better. What's another medicine, right? :)

I know what you mean.  I tried getting rid of my afternoon dose of Protonix and couldn't.  I can however take a dose of OTC Prilosec in the afternoon.  I can't wait until this acid gets better.  This is the one thing that got worse after surgery.  EVERYTHING else got better or went away.  I still think it is agood trade off- skinnier rear end for some reflux that I can control with meds.

I guess I will be one of those folks that takes the stuff for at least 6 months.

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

 Amy,

I don't know if this is important or not, but I was at CVS the other day and noticed that they had a sign saying that there was now a generic for it.  I know the month I took it, it was kind of pricey.  Anyway, just FYI...Glad to hear that you know what was making your feel bad.

Amy;

at almost eight months out, I still have to take Protonix - I take the actual prescription because my insurance pays for it and it is cheaper than buying Prilosec. Anyways, I take 1/2 of a pill every day...tried to stop it a couple of times, but I get that same feeling in my upper chest like you described. Glad I am ok with 1/2 the dose...maybe one day I can stop taking it altogether....

I'm almost 7 months out and just gave mine up a month or so ago.  No problems yet but I have some at home...just in case!!!  You're looking awesome by the way and I KNOW you must feel so much better...protonix is just a little hitch!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I was taking Zantac once a day prior to surgery, the doctor didn't say anything about continuing it and I haven't had any issues, but I am just 2 days post op so maybe that will come later.  I agree though, it is a small price to pay for losing some of my backside!  LOL
