Wondering
Got a card from my brother-in-law a couple of days ago. He said, "I can't express how proud I am of you for making a difference in your life -- which, in turn, makes a difference in ours."
That really struck me. You see the pain an alchoholic or drug addict causes to the people around them. At our highest weight, how much pain and worry did we cause to the people who loves us? Never really considered it, but I guess from this card, quite a bit. This makes me even more happy I have made this decision and the desire to be successful with my new tool, not only for me, but for those around me who care. Makes you go hmmmmm. Michael

I know you have many in your life who must be so proud of you. I know we all have to do this for ourselves first but in turn we affect so many...especially loved ones who want us around for a long long time. I received a card just the other day that simply said "congradulations" I'm proud of you! It made me feel so good and I'm so happy you made this decision. I know your lovely wife is proud of you!!!
Michael, great post! I know my obesity made a difference in my daughter's life. Even without speaking the words I could tell that it did. Now she relates to me more as if I am like her, well, somewhat -she is 14, so let's not go that far...but she relates to me in a more "normal" way, because I can keep up with her and do the things that she wants to do. She even takes my good examples when it comes to eating right and exercising (she just decided to get up earlier in the morning and use the treadmill like I do). That was a major WOW moment for me, almost makes me feels as if I accomplished another goal.
On another note: I see your ticker.....did you lose 31 lbs since surgery? That is fabulous Mr. Muffin man!!!
It is true. Our weight can be a weight on our families. Thank you for reminding us how it affects the entire family especially ourselves. Any change is an overall change for the families! I am so glad you have a brother-in-law who was able to tell you how proud he was of you....Family support can be so helpful in this process.
Take care...

I hope after I have the surgery my family will come around. My husband is really supportive and he understands my reasons. But my older children, my dad, my mom...They are not as supportive. We will see how they change when My weight changes.
Michael that was a good Post and give us something to think about! I hope you are feeling well.
