He's a blue merle, but an unusually beautiful one.....LOL.
Science lesson: Merle is not a color, but a pattern caused by an incomplete gene for the color black. But, it attaches to other genes as well, such as the gene for deafness, so care has to be taken when breeding for the pattern-and some people consider it down right irresponsible. I'm a buyer, not a breeder, and I honestly don't know what I'd do if I were selling merle puppies. (Lily, my merle chihuahua is deaf but there were other issues at birth and we don't know what caused it for sure. Merle is not the only indicator for the deaf gene).
You didn't come off as condescending, at all. I love learning new things. I love to read and study. It's just that I feel a bit overwhelmed, in the area of science, so I get excited to read tidbits. Teach away, girlfriend!

You never sound like a know it all...I too, love information. It comes across as excitement so don't worry about that....If you ever sound condescending, we'll just smack you....I ask that people do the same to me.....In the mean time bring on the info.
I will never be tossing out science info...You can bet on that! My Science teacher can also tell you that I should never speak in science language.....He gave me a D- to get me out of his class! So did the Math teacher! I guess they figured if they had a child left behind...it sure wouldn't be Sherry!! ( I had a big mouth and disrupted classes) I sailed through English and literature though!!

You are SO funny, Sherri. I, too, barely made it through Biology. I was a terrible lab partner. I can STILL see that frog tacked up, spread eagle, on that board! [shiver] I can't believe I didn't faint, but my big ole football player lab partner did! It was great! haha
