Calories and Protein : Not the same thing
on 10/2/08 12:16 am
Once I found the Big Breakfast theory worked, I began to twiddle with it. (400 calories, 50 something grams of protein, all was well).
First I found I could drop it to 300 calories, 50 something grams of protein and it worked much the same. Cool. (remember, I don't like breakfast and begrudge the calories for things I don't like....yes, food is fuel).
Yesterday, because I concocted something without my glasses, I hit about 40 ish grams of protien and 220 calories or so. We won't go in to taste.....and yesterday I had issues with snacking that I hadn't had.
So, this morning i put my glasses on, added back the soy powder (which does have protein too) and, uh, no snacky urges.
So, my conclusion is: for the Big Breakfast to work, it has to have at least 300 calories and close to 50 grams of protein. (I'm not going to test this by eating a king size candy bar for breakfast-sweets in the morning were always a bad idea for me, even pre surgery)
Now, the sicko thing is, I can live with the crappy tasted (it isn't that bad) easier than I can live with the extra 100 calories for the good tasting version....so maybe food really IS just fuel, at least before noon.
Kimmie dear, did you eat breakfast this morning?
PS Not gonna lie, I mix all that powder crap with cold coffee, no****er-it has to have SOME redeeming value.
Yes, I did eat breakfast this morning. Also resentful that I have to "waste" calories on stuff I don't want to eat and don't enjoy. But still I'm not losing very fast these days, I did eat about 1/2 cup of lf cottage cheese and 1 lf string cheese.
I would like to do a test to see if I lose better with or without breakfast but I don't think I'm patient or observant enough to do it. Good think I have friends like you to report back to me.
I wish I could see a pattern of snacking based on what I've eaten that day but, alas, can't figure that out either! I do have snacking issues these days.
You coming to our support group meeting tonight? We would love to have you!
