OK. I'm just gonna come right out and tell ya and ask. I have been in pain all morning.  I have CONSTIPATION! there i said it. I know that some of you have had this problem so please help me.  I had it when if first starting eating solids, it lasted about 3 days, and then finally passed. now I have it again I am 6 weeks out.  I have been extremely tired for about 3 days i just figured I am overly tired.  but I think it is the constipation.  I am drinking miralax right now hoping it will help but it is prob. to late for that.  I haven't  gotten all my liquids in the last two days that I should have, could that be part of the problem?  also do you ladies take miralax on a regular basis to try to avoid the constipation problem?  any advise any of you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.

I can feel your pain.  I was so there a few weeks ago.  I had to resort to the fleet suppositories on 3 different occasions.  I have NEVER in my life had to use that but it will work immediately for you.  I called Dr. W and they told me to use the Mirilax on a daily basis and more than one dose if necessary.  I finally quite taking that and upped my fruit and veggies and that has REALLY helped.  I started thinking about what I was eating and it was mostly the protein.  I think it sounds like you are past the point where the mirilax will work.  After you've had the BM you can start taking it morning and night (as I was told).  You might need to call your surgeon's office also.  I know another of Dr. W patients who was told to use the Mirilax on a daily basis as well.  Good luck!

Dr Walton told me to take 16 capfuls if I had to. He said it takes about 6 months for your body to adjust. I was not about to take 16 capfuls so I started using Miralax daily and within a week I was regular. I have now cut back to every othere day and will wean slowly from it and see what happens.

I add Benefiber to my morning coffee.  No, I didn't ask anyone about whether it was OK.  I just made an executive decision.  I have also been taking Sennokot S every day for several years.  I take extra iron every day and this was recommended by my pharmacist.  Dr. Walton DOES know about the Sennokot S.  I rarely have any issues with constipation with this regimine.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

If in real pain, the only way to get immediate relief is to go the way of the suppository. They do work and fast.

I take a daily stool softner, colace or the generic form. And once you get in vegs and fruits with your protein, you will do much better. PLus, you have to get your water in or there is no moisture to help move it along.

Thanks all for the info. I finally did get some relief this afternoon.  I think I will try to take mirilax at least once a day for a while, just to make sure.  Thanks again.

I'm fine-as long as I don't take my iron...so it's a constant battle for which is the most important.  I second the fleet enemas-with the low volume of food we eat, it dries out pretty fast and you can be really backed up really fast.  After about three days of no-go, I grab a fleet.

NOT GOING is the worst!  What I've learned is if I don't "go" one day, I take Miralax first thing the next morning. It works well for me, but I don't dare go more than one day without going to the bathroom.
I know you know you've GOT to get in your water, so I won't fuss at you, but I will wag my finger at ya.
Hope everything comes out all right (sorry, that was bad).
Blessings,
Mary
