Mary, I understand. I went through a stall in just the 2nd month. I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks in between the first seminar and my initial consultation with the surgeon. My next appt a month later, I gained 2 lbs. OMG. I was absolutely devistated. Kind of embarrasing to say, but I just broke down and cried. I couldn't understand because my jeans were quite a bit looser. The next month I lost pretty good. I was really tired of all this and wanted my surgery, so I noticed another guy on the men's forum, saying he lost like 35 lbs the first month. I had 19 lbs to go, so I asked him. He was on Opti-Fast, and drank like 5 to 6 shakes a day. Others talked about Slim Fast LOW CARB shakes. I didn't like the taste and finally settled on a brand called EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control shakes. Has 17g protein and only 2 carbs (same as the slim fast). It was tastier and also less expense then slim fast. I drank one for breakfast, had a very small snack mid morn. and then a lunch of salad and canned chicken breast. Had another for mid afternoon snack and one for dinner. Sometimes I would have a dinner of food instead of the lunch. Anyway, very restrictive, but I was determined to get my last 19 lbs off so surgery could be scheduled. There is no way I could have done this for a very long period of time, but did it for about 3 weeks, and got to my doctor's goal. This definately not for everyone, just sharing what I did. There was nothing like hearing your surgeon saying, "Let's schedule your surgery". Your stall will break. As hard as it is, be patient. Michael
Thank you for your suggestions, Michael. Shakes are hard for me, but I'm willing to try anything.
Are you saying that Dr. Walton scheduled your surgery BEFORE you lost all the weight he wanted you to lose? I think that if I had a date, it would affect me positively. Not sure why I think that, but I do.
Thanks again.
Mary

Are you drinking the water you are advised to drink? That slows me up every time.....
No gloom and doom-one of the things presurgery (and I was self pay) I did was think of all the things that would probably go wrong-that it wouldn't happen for ME....then I realized I didn't think I was worthy of getting help or success.
Realize you are worth success.
Hi, Debra.
Yes, I'm very diligent about getting in the water. I drink 6-8 (usually 8) glass of water per day. I used to drink A LOT of diet pepsi/coke, so I decided to quit, to see if I had the self-discipline to get WLS and eat/drink the way they recommend afterward. It was hard, but I haven't had a soda in about 5 months.
The "worthy" thing is something to thing about, for sure.
Blessings,
Mary

Mary, I'm with you! I am home all day. (Home daycare) I serve 4 meals most days. Breakfast, Lunch, pm snack and dinner! I have 6 kids in the afternoon! I get stressed and I want to eat all the time. I am even in my 6 mo supervised diet. I have gained and lost! The last time I had lost 5 lbs. I started out this morning having a protein shake! Then my mom came over and made some pasta with lots of veggies, so I ate that. Well, then I realized I had to make snack for this afternoon so it would be ready. I made monkey bread. I had to have some! I love the stuff. If I could just make if for the kids and not eat it I would be so proud of myself. I keep teeling myself that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels, but then I say Heck no it does not this stuff is GOOD! So I ate some. Now I feel like I've messed up for the whole day so I'll pig for the rest of the day and say, I'll start tomorrow! Well, my plan for this day is to NOT do that. I will set a goal and just have what I made for dinner, yes, I already made dinner for tonight! Turkey stew, with lots of veggies! So I will have 1 serving and call it done! Thats my goal for the day, and I am going to get on my eliptical for 30 mins! That will at least burn off the monkey bread I ate! How does that sound! What goal do you have for yourself for TODAY! Right now??? Not tomorrow? Thats what I have to stop doing, putting it off until tomorrow!
Now, thanks for letting me Whine!

I feel for you, Kim. I ran a home daycare for 14 years. It was hard. I remember feeling like I was either cooking, cleaning up from a meal/snack, or playing with kids 24/7. It's not an easy job. It will be so much easier after WLS, at least as far as the hunger factor, for both of us. If we can just get to that point. We're NOT going to be the only 2 people who can't get to goal!
My goal today is not to eat from my emotions. It doesn't help anything, and I want to be able to say, "I followed the program" and have the dietician help me problem solve.
Hang in there,
Mary

Ok! We're both on track now! We have goals for today! Thats what we will do for today! Then tomorrow we'll wake up and set new goals or keep the ones from today! Hey, Its a start!
Yes, I know what you mean, cooking, cleaning, playing, wiping butts! You name it I can multitask it all! Right now they are napping! I'm doing laundry, talking on the phone to 2 of my kids, typing on the computer...I'm just good! LOL!

Mary, no, Dr. Walton would not schedule the surgery until I had lost 10% of my weight. I had 19 lbs. left to lose and during that last month is when I was so strict on myself. When I went for my August appt., I had lost the remaining weight. I was scheduled then for 9/15. I don't entirely recommend what I did, but it worked for me. I would think if you change up your diet a little from what you are doing now, the stall will be broken. Mabye some of the receipes from Thomas will do it. Up your protein and lower your carbs? Only you can decide what you personally can handle, then do it. Don't fight discouragement, JUST FIGHT! for yourself and your surgery. We love ya, Michael.
