Filter?

I have a question about the filter????  My brother and I are both having Lap RNY done hopefully by Dec.  Anyway he is in Houston and I'm In OK!  Who HAS TO HAVE the filter?  Isn't it anyone who has had a blood clot?  He has had one.  Just a few years ago in his leg.  Will he need a filter?  I heard it mentioned but I don't really know about it.  I am really just finishing up my 6 mo PCP diet.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

He will probably have to have a filter.

Gorospe will require one if you have had a blood clot before or if your BMI is over 50.
