PARTIAL JUSTICE !!

Okay, I'm not usually one who likes someone else to be put in an uncomfortable position, but I honestly have to say I really enjoyed this !!!  There are three women at my work that not only have NEVER commented to me about my weightloss, but started the rumor that I had had LapBand surgery long before I told anyone but my closest friends that I had the Sleeve !!  One of them even stopped in the hall outside my office and yelled, "Hey, Lynette, I saw something on the news this morning about your surgery."  I just responded, "What surgery?" !!  Well, I finally confronted two of them about it when we had an office dinner.  All I said was, I've heard you've been telling everyone that I had LapBand surgery, but you're wrong, I had the sleeve.  Maybe you need to ask before you spread misinformation.  Well, yesterday I was in court with one of them (she is one of my judges.)  One of the attorneys walked in and greeted me, "Hey, skinny, you're looking great !"  I said, "Gee, thanks, John".  And he proceeded to say, "Judge, isn't she looking great?"  And she said, "UHHHHH, yes, she looks fine."  And he said, "Boy, I'm really proud of you.  You've done a lot for yourself, don't you think so, Judge?"  And she responded, "Yes."  Whereupon he said, "I am just really proud of you."  Whereupon, she said, "I'm just really JEALOUS !!!"  Now I know why at least she has never said anything.  And now I actually feel sorry for her.  Go figure.

Hmmm, the judge is spreading rumors?  tsk tsk tsk.

I think jealousy is behind a lot of the negative comments or lack of them. I have been very open about my surgery. I am in a small office and everyone knows. Everyone was supportive from day one, except for one woman who tried to talk me out of it. she finally told me one day right after surgery that she was jealous. Ironically, she is the skinniest one in the office.

Way to go!!!  That's awesome!!  I love it that you comfronted them.  Sometimes, women especially, can be so mean.  I've had similar things in my office.  Yesterday was sweet for me too in that I had some wonderful compliments from our business owner and another gentlemen....of course in front of the skinnie girls!!!!  I've finally been able to just say thank you and feel that the compliments were genuine and I am worthy. 

It's awesome that the Judge is jealous....it's about time we get one up, huh????

 

 Proud of you for tackling this directly.  Says a lot for your self-confidence and strength.  You're a good person to be feeling sorry for her.  I've got too much evil in me to say I would feel the same.  I have a friend who has lost as much weight as me now - and she did it without surgery.  Making me feel inferior and wondering if I could have done it that way too.  I'm working on being happy for myself AND her cuz I love her and want the best for her.  Maybe I'm selfish.  Maybe I need therapy.  (5 months ago I would have said chocolate.  LOL)

I think our row is just as hard to hoe -- we can eat past this wonderful tool we have, we choose not to.  Needless to say, if I could have done it the other way, which I had -- twice --, I wouldn't have resorted to this.  Thank God this is the reminder to stop when I'm satisfied, not full, and does not allow me to "pig out"  if I want to.  It's just that subtle reminder that truly makes me stop. 

I know Cindy and Lynette that we've all lost it and gained it back.  Remember at our seminar...only 4-5% who diet the "normal" way are successful and can diet and keep it off.   That doesn't leave very good odds for us does it?  Cindy I hope your friend can keep her's off but it'll be interesting to see which one of you have kept it off in 5 years....My money is on YOU!!!

BEFORE I HAD MY SURGERY ANOTHER LADY IN OUR OFFICE HAD THE BYPASS AND I WAS VERY JEALOUS BECAUSE I WANTED TO HAVE IT FOR SO LONG. BUT NOW THAT I HAVE HAD MY SLEEVE I CAN BE HAPPY FOR HER AND WITH HER. HANG IN THERE AND STICK TO YOUR GUNS!
