I am so sorry to post this sad message
Well I am 3 weeks out today...and still feeling nauseous. I did call Dr. G on Monday, he prescribed Phenergan Gel which works wonderfully. He did say that as long as I am not vomitting or having issues getting food and liquids down this is normal. He also said within two weeks it should pass, and even more so in 6 weeks.
I know have a confession to make to all my friends on OH...
You asked about my last post on where my protein shakes were. Well I haven't been getting ANY protein shakes in AT ALL. Yes, I know, before the lynching begins let me explain...lol. I have spent, no joke, about 200 dollars or more trying protein shakes from everywhere. Thomas recommended Nectar, I've tried Unjury, GNC everything from powders to the bullets, ATkins. You name it I've tried it. I cannot swallow them without gagging and almost throwing up. I just don't know what to do next. Dr. G did say I needed to find something that I could handle. I am not sure if this is where the nauseousness is coming from or what, or if maybe I am lactose intolerant now.
Believe it or not I went back to work part time yesterday, and thank God I did only PT. I was great in the morning which is the way it usually is, but by noon I was crashing hard. I came home at some soup with a few crackers crushed up in them and got sicker than a dog and ended up in bed at 5pm. Maybe the crackers didn't agree with me, but this has got to give soon.
I have NO energy and I know it is because I am not getting enough food & nutrients in my daily diet. I feel like a HUGE failure...I mean this is only 3 weeks, and all these issues already. I just want to cry
, sorry to be such a downer.

If you're on mushies then get as much protein as you can from food. Eggs, cottage cheese, cheese, fish, etc. You can do it! You just have to be creative about it. YOU NEED PROTEIN!!!
I've heard several people have tried isopure and they love it. They have ready to drink clear protein drinks at GNC that we can have and they are just a few dollars. Its a heck of a lot cheaper than $20-30 for a giant tub only to find out you don't like the flavor.
My heart breaks for you.

My sweet little friend, I'm so sad to read this. I can hear how upset and frustrated you are. I didn't really have this problem but during the liquid phase, I did feel absolutely terrible until I had some liquid protein. Suddenly, life was worth living again! I got the protein bullet from GNC and took it like medicine. I didn't even have to drink it all to feel better. I hate all those protein shakes too. They're awful. But necessary.
I hope you feel better fast! Keep us all posted!

I could not do the protein drinks either. I found that Braums skim milk has 13 grams of protien in 1 cup, so I drink 1 and a half to 2 cups of milk for breakfast everyday, and that is 19-26 grams of protein in milk and it tastes good. I have also added a sugar free carnation instant breakfast to this milk for 5 more grams of protein. After this I try to eat the rest of the day things that have protein in them, like cheese, meats, and the only thing on the food labels I check are the amount of protein in a serving. Land O Lakes makes a marble cheese that are individually wrapped and each has 5 grams of protein. So far I have been doing okay getting 50-70 grams of protein a day. It was harder in the beginning because of volume limits, but I am able to eat a little more now. My six month blood work is coming next week so we will see if I am doing okay by that. Hope this helps. Dionne
Dione, I'm not a milk drinker but I'm going to try to start drinking the skim milk from Braums especially since there are 13 grams of protien in a cup. I've worked really hard the past week trying to get my protein up. I did get it up and also got myself out of that dreaded stall. I dropped 5 pounds this week!!! I think we get use to doing the same things over and over and our bodies need change. I've also increased my fruit and veggies which have helped with the dreaded constipation problem for me as well.... Our bodies are some sophisticated machines aren't they??
I use the Braums Skim milk too, but then add either Slim Fast High Protein to it or a protein powder I have so it really ups the protein. I think that is why I am losing some of this pre-op weight. I have found I have some bloating lately, so am taking a pill for lactose intolerance.
I think I have finally realized the importance of protein in my diet....I used to think all veggies was a good thing....Nope!
Yep, it is all hit and miss and each body is different! My daughter, who is nursing, was eating mostly protein and protein drinks....the new baby was getting all constipated...the doc said eat more fiber...now the baby's stools are fine....God is an amazing designer of each part of our bodies...

You know I hate to tell anyone what I drink because they might just go buy it and hate it!! I am a cheap person, so I went to Walmart hunting for something good for me....I hoped....Well,
this one is called.Super Advanced Whey Protein. It has alone, per scoop, 26g Protein , 2 carbs, 110 cal. You can have up to 2 scoops but that would be to sweet for me. This is vanilla. I like it....it doesn't seem gritty either....I would gladly bring you or anyone a sample so you could taste it before buying it....But I think it was like $15.00 for this big 2lb container. I am looking for some unflavored whey so that I can get protein in chick broth or beef broth or to thicken soups and I had a even use to make a gravy....I am in experiment mode.
Anyway I can bring some of this to the next dinner or to a support group to try....I like it ok...Shoot, are any of them wonderful??? It seems to mix up well...I haven't done this in coffee but am going to try it to see..Maybe if Im lucky, it will taste like a Latte'
