Gorospe RNYers, HELP!

I'm freaked out and its Jean Ann's fault! I was under the impression that we had to be on a clear liquid diet with the exception of our protein. Jean Ann said tonight that it was a clear diet, no exceptions. Do you Gorospe RNYers know which of us is correct? My surgery is Thursday and I don't really want to go through this liquid diet again because I screwed it up this time.

And what is this I'm hearing about no red jello?

Don't know about Gorospe's requirements, but Dr. W has us on clear liquids only the day before surgery -- water, decaf tea, broth, etc.  Could also have SF popsicles, or SF jell-o, but no red.  They said since it is the same color as blood, it would be hard to determine it it's the jell-o or the real thing. 

Clear liquids and protein drinks.  I am assuming you meant protein drinks. No one told me no red jello but if you are eating red jello stop today and you wil be fine. I ate red jello during that time and I still had surgery...lol

Dr Kirk told me the color didnt matter so long as it was liquid!!!!!!  I had popsicles and jello all the way up to midnight the night before surgery as well as my protein shakes.

Yes I meant protein shakes.


And thanks everyone! I'm feeling much better now. I was really freaked out last night thinking I had misunderstood something along the way and, of course, I didn't have my notebook or paperwork with me at home. I've been "studying" at my office and I left it on my desk.

I swear this piece of paper says clear only.. they need to update their packets, seriously.. I missed out on my Muscle Milk! YUM!

Joy your day is the same as Jat's?  Sweet I will come see you too!!!  As for the red jello in the past they didnt want us to have anything red or purple cause they felt it would confuse surgeons.  Dr Kirk said they are confident enough and have done enough of them over the years that the dye would not confuse them. 

So you're ok?? WHEW! Kewl.. just wish I'd known protein drinks were ok, I would have gotten a LOT more protein in. I think I've done ok, though, with the Isopure :)

My fault... lol sorry... I owe you a drink! *grin* (in about 3-4 years) hahaa

Clear liquids 4 days before surgery and red jello is fine.
