I get an email off and on from a Real Age site....This was in my box this morning....This is for people thinking about surgery or the lap band....It is very good....under the part :Dangers of Belly Fat there are two video's the second one is Dr. Oz explaining how you get belly fat....Quite interesting! It is really advertizing for the lap band...but the reality is it applies to all who are over weight deciding weight loss is for them....You are not a failure by choosing surgery.....That was my thought. This will help you see that....

Is Your Moment Now?

You may have tried for years to lose weight and keep it off – with no long-term success. You are not alone. Studies have shown that diet and exercise alone may not work for people who are 100 pounds or more overweight.i,ii In fact, the National Institutes of Health reports that some diet and exercise programs have a failure rate as high as 95 percent.iii

Why? It's about science. Dr. Michael Roizen believes belly fat is the reason why many people continue to gain or regain weight, despite efforts to lose it. To educate the millions of people who are more than 100 pounds overweight, Dr. Roizen has teamed up with Guiding Light actress Caitlin Van Zandt to launch the "Moment is Now. Here is the Truth." obesity health education campaign. If you want to understand the science behind obesity and what you can do about it:

Join Dr. Roizen and Caitlin at a free Moment is Now education seminar in Memphis, TN, on September 24. Click here for more information regarding the Memphis event and future events in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
Watch a video message from Dr. Roizen and learn about the dangers of belly fat and the challenges of weight loss for people who are 100 pounds or more overweight.
Read about treatment options beyond diet and exercise alone including facts about obesity and what you can do to get healthier.
Take the LAP-BAND® Challenge and find out if your belly fat is putting your health at risk.
Follow the inspirational true story of how Caitlin Van Zandt and her mother battled severe obesity together.

Your "Moment is Now." Learn the truth about obesity. Visit the new RealAge "Moment is Now. Here is the Truth." online center.

The "Moment is Now. Here is the Truth." obesity health education campaign is sponsored by Allergan, Inc., the makers of the LAP-BAND AP® System. The campaign is designed to help the millions of individuals more than 100 pounds overweight understand the devastating impact of obesity, the science behind this disease, why it's a challenge for them to keep weight off, and the availability of effective weight-loss treatment options beyond diet and exercise.

Dr. OZ and Dr. Roisen's books were what ultimately led me to WLS-they kind of took the moral failure part away for me.  My band is no more a moral failure than a brace on my leg-it's just something I need.

The whole omentum becoming like another organ-complete with hormones, just wigged me out and I felt like i had to get this off in a way I had never felt before.  I don't think they meant for it to be scary, just another way to look at the issue, but THAT was what did it for me-and that's what keeps me moving forward.

I had not seen this.  I knew that Caitlin Van Zandt had lap band done.  Her character on the Guiding Light did also (of course!)  They put it in the script.  She looks really good.
Thanks for sharing this story!  It was very informative.
