Please tell me if this is normal...

I just don't quite know what is going on...

Right after surgery everything was going so well and now for the last 3 days since Friday I have been experiencing horrible nauseousness.  I mean like the type that if I think of walking it make me want to throw up.

This has been a very bad weekend.  I had planned to go to a little local carnival with my son and his friend on Saturday night since I haven't done anything with him in soooo long, but I got so sick Saturday afternoon all I could do was stay in bed...and cry.  I cried most of the day Saturday, I know I am only 2.5 weeks post op but I am really tired of being tired and now this nauseous feeling is really making me upset.

My computer is downstairs in my house and I haven't really had the energy or I've been too sick to even post this to ask for help from you all...my friends.
When I saw Dr. G on Friday I didn't bring this up because it had just started on Friday morning and I thought it was just me being nervouse to weigh or something...not so much.  He did say that recovery is really 6 weeks minimum and like my sensitivity to cold will go away as my recovery progesses...but now this.

So, here is what I've been trying to eat...
~1/2 c. Cottage Cheese
~1/2 c. Refried Beans
~String Cheese
~One egg omlette with cheese
~Potatoe Buds on time on the first day of Mushies

Well anyway I hope you guys have some idea...maybe this is all part of recovery for me.  This surely cannot last, I definitely could NOT live with this forever.  Sorry for ruining everybody's fun talk about Friday which I absolutely want to come to, but the sickness has to GO!!!  Thanks for listening...

You did not mention your protein drinks. You should still be doing them at this point.

I developed a lactose intolerance shortly after surgery and found that I was getting very nauseous after drinking my protein mixed with milk. So I switched to mixing it with water and no more upset stomach. I have also found I can now use the latrose free milk 2% which makes the drinks more creamy. Even at 10 mos out, I still do the protein drinks to get in the required amount each day.

Hope you feel better soon.

I was just about to ask if you were doing protein drinks.  I had some light headedness and queasiness.  The worst part was in the mornings but it would occur throughout the day.  It passed after a week or so.  I agree with Kat you need your protein drinks and if you are drinking them with milk you might want to switch to water.

Hey girl....  i too experienced terrible nausea....  it lasted for a matter of weeks.  This will pass.  You will have a lack of appetite during this stage, so eat....I promise..you need to eat!  If you don't eat, the nausea will only get worse.  (I didn't eat much, therefore I trapped myself in the cycle of nausea...so I got out of it by eating and drinking the protein.

Now go make yourself happy....think about all the new sizes you're gonna be shopping for soon!

Ditto on the protein drinks-soy milk helps, and buying soy based protein instead of whey based can help.  I'm over a year out with lap band, and if I don't have one or two a day I cannot get enough protein in, and things start going south from there.

I can't offer advice but I can offer sympothay!
I hope you feel better soon!  I know being sick can make you really sad.  Cheer up and try to get something down.  Try the shakes or something!  Then walk outside for a little bit!  Maybe some fresh air will help!  It can't hurt!
Keep us posted!
Hang in there!
Hugs coming your way!

What is normal for one can be a complication for another. I sure would feel better if you'd call your surgeon. He's the best one to talk to about what is or isn't normal. You could have a leak, and you don't want to mess with that.

I kinda noticed you did not say anything about protein meal replacements or supplements. I know when I did not get enough protein in I am light headed the longer I wait the worse the feeling becomes and then I kinda get nauseated. When you get your protein in the feeling of being tired disappears. Please remember you just had MAjOR surgery and your body needs time to heal and adjust. Just cause the doc says 6 weeks minimum does not mean that day 42 you going to feel like you can run a foot race.
And just cause you can "eat" mushies does not mean your body is ready for them. I stayed on liquids  more than the two weeks cause food made me sick. Go back to liquids and see if that helps.
If that doesnt call your surgeon...BTW if you had allergies before surgery, they seem to be worse after...OMG when I have sinius problems nausea is like my worse enemy..

being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I would definately call your doctor. There are so many things that could cause the nausea medically. Maybe, you are trying to eat too much. I could not eat more than about 10 very small bites at a meal when I first started food. I'm sorry you're going through this.

I dont know for a fact but the nausea could be a side effect of the anesthesia still working its way out of your system.  I have heard from teachers it can sometimes take a couple of weeks to come down off that lightheadedness from having a surgery.  That being said yes you need to get your protein in as much as possible.  Be creative if you have to.  best of luck and as alway**** us up with anything you need answers to.
