New to Site and Excited

Hi Angela!!!  You just introduced yourself to the most wonderful caring group of folks you have ever met!  There are many people that won't understand the journey you are choosing to take (in the beginning but they will be believers later, trust me) but this group right here understands.

You and your mom doing this together is great.  I had my surgery in July and my sister hopes to have hers this fall.  I know it will help so much for her to have someone that understands fully and can reassure her every step of the way.

You are young girl!!  I wish I could have done this 10 years ago!!  Your Mom will have such a new lease on life once she has recovered from surgery.  She will feel like she is in her 30s again instead of feeling like she doesn't have long to live. 

This surgery (and the other WLS) have given us all our lives back!  Welcome to the group! -Amy

welcome to the best support based board in the world!! the people on here helped me so much when i first started and even now when i need  a pick-me-up they are right there with me.

dr b is the bomb!! i love him and thank him for giving me a chance to take control of my weight instead of letting my weight take control of me. i feel wonderful about myself now and i am proud of myself.

i am so glad that you have your mom to help you thru this. i couldn't have done as well as i have without the support of my family especially my husband.

hopefully the process will go quickly for you because it is so hard to wait for everything when you were ready yesterday!!

Welcome Angela! Congratulations on making one of the best decisiions of your life. Like others have said, my only regret has been not doing this sooner. I was self pay, but it is worth every penny to have my life back. My family has been supportive, but I also could not have made it without the support of this group as well!

Hello wls fans:  my name is Glenda  and  I had RNY  with  Dr  Gorospe on 09.08.08
I am getting  ready  to have my first  scrambled  egg  with  cottage cheese. I am so
excited for real food.  My  surgery  took   a  tailspin  after  I  was put into my room  from  recovery.
All my family  was  there  to  meet me  and  all  they said  that I was  saying  I hurt  I hurt!
I do not remember anything  from that  moment on  cause I began  to plummet and  have
irregular  heart  rate  problems.   It scared  my family  alot!  But  now after  being in ICU  for
2 days that got  better and  now that I am home  -  I am getting ready to do a heart 
monitor  for 14 days to see what is  going on with the heart.  I  probably had this before
surgery but was more  pronounced due to stress  of  surgery.   I have had a condition for  a  
week   now and wanted  to know if  any one else  has had this??
I keep  spitting up  foam  from  my throat  and also  my voice is  almost  gone.
Let me know if anyone has  had this. They are sending me to an ENT to check out my voice
sitiuation.   Besides  all of this stuff   --  I am feeling   better  today.
I lost  20  lbs  at  my post op visit  on  Friday.   YEA!!!!!

from you.   I am  56   yrs  younger  each  day and  have  2  grown  kids and so far one
granddaughter.  Have been married  to  sweetheart  found in bar at  OSU  since  1972.

Hi Angela, and welcome! This is a great place to be for information, support, inspiration and heck, even entertainment at times! I read your profile, and, yes you are doing this for all the right reasons. Health and confidence are the most important things in life, if you don't have that, your whole prespective of life on a day to day basis changes.

Dr. B is great! He has truly saved my life and changed my outlook on food. He knows what he is doing, just follow what he says and you will succeed.

I also have a child, she is an opinionated teenager, and even though I can truly say I did this for my health, I know that deep down she was a key reason for me going through this process. I was truly tired of being so heavy and it was affecting our relatioship, in terms of me being unable to do the things she wanted me to do. I can now go shopping with her and be able to keep up with her throughout the whole time. That is amazing to me and mostly, to her.

You can do this! I have lost a lot of weight so far, and still have a lot to lose! It is unreal to me the many attempts I made to try to lose weight in the past, the money spent on those way surpass what I spent on the surgery (yep, self-pay). I remember cringing everytime I wrote a check to Jenny Craig for their nasty food...yet paying for this surgery...well, I was so happy to do it, it's undescribable (is that a word?)!! I am no longer on a diet....this is a way of life, yes, it takes adjusting, but when you have conquered that, it's a wonderful ride.

Welcome, welcome!!  Wow these people on here are AMAZING!!  And besides them being super duper sweet they are a wealth of information.  Everyone is at a different place in their journey, so the information is so broad.  You need anything at all just post it and within a matter of an hour or so, you can bet you will be getting answers or support.  So glad you found us, nice to have you in the group!!
