New to Site and Excited
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this site.......my mother introduced to me this site.....which is where my story begins.
If anyone would like to view my story and give me some feedback it would be great.
Just give you a little insight about me though, I am a 31 year old mother of one and I have my first consultation on Oct. 10th with Dr. Broussard. Currently I am 332 lbs. and I want to reach 220. I also wanted to have surgery to help support my mother and of course give myself the ability to get healthy. Thankfully I was able to find an insurance that will help me to pay for the surgery. My mother has told me about so many people on this site that she has been following that have helped to inspire her.......I am wanting to do the same.

Hi Angela, and welcome to Oklahoma OH and Weight Wise. We are happy to have you join us. I read your story and it sounds like you are doing this all for the right reasons. I wish you and your Mom the best of luck on your new journey. It is a truly exciting journey and one that requires much dedication and compliance. You both can do it and I am very happy that you both have made this decision and support each other. Good family support plays a major factor in your success. If I can help you in any way or answer questions please don't hesitate to ask. I am sure I will run into the both of you at some point at the hospital. Rita
You came to the right spot! This board is a support base like no other. If you have questions, then the answers are usually here, or they can direct you to the right place to get answers. You will learn, on here, what the surgery has meant to so many and how it changed their lives. You will also learn what to eat, NOT to eat and how to get through each stage of the pre-op and post-op....All from people who have lived it. Everyone is different so you will read many different views and experiences. These wonderful posters are cheerleaders and comforters. They are also just like you....maybe just getting ready to do this.....thinking about it....or already for their surgery date. Some have had the RNY, some the sleeve and some the lap band you can discuss any type with them....I personally am on a warm up bench. I won't have my surgery until January and am having the Sleeve done. I can't wait. I have been on here since June and am still learning! There is also a recipe forum to help with food ideas and recipes so remember that also....Welcome to this Board!

Hi Angela. Welcome to OH and the Oklahoma forum. I just had my RNY last Monday. You are SO going to the right place. The surgery went well and the hospital staff from the person at the check in desk to the nurses were absolutely the best. They were so nice, so helpful. You will find so much support here and information. Good luck with your journey. Michael
Welcome, Angela.
This forum is full of sweet people, and then there's T. Just kidding, he's sweet, too, but just a few fries short of a Happy Meal [said lovingly and with a wink].
I read your story, and it sounds like you and your mom are going forward with courage and resolve. I would LOVE IT, if my daughter could have surgery with me. How fun or, at least, "misery loves company."
You'll do great! I'm looking forward to having the Sleeve in early November, hopefully. I have 9 lbs. more to lose.
Let me know if there's anything I can do for you.
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Angela~
I read your story as well and I must say it's wonderful that you and your mother have each other to lean on through your WLS journey together. This is a wonderful place for support and I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Broussard. I had my RNY 4 + years ago and I have been so happy with the decision, as I lost over 160 lbs and many illnesses I had pre-op, as well. I look forward to getting to know you better along this journey. *hugs*

Angela - this board is the best! It is truly a lifeline for me. As for the surgery, it was the best thing I have ever done! I feel so much better both physically and spiritually. It has made all the difference in the world. Why didn't I do it sooner?
Dr B is fab - you will love him. You have made the greatest decision in your life. Jump through all of their hoops and try to enjoy the process!

I should add that I did this surgery with my sister, HappyCat. She had the sleeve 5 days before me. It was been very special having someone to experience all the ups and downs with. I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to do this on my own but I'm glad I didn't have to find out. Having a family member on the ride with you is priceless!
Welcome to the wonderful board.. I just turned 35 and have 4 year old boy/girl twins.. I want to get healthier to watch them grow, and at this rate how long will that really be?
I have gone to the seminar at Weight Wise, and it seemed to answer many of my questions. My first visit with Dr B is Oct 2. I already had them fax me the lab work orders and took that to my own doctor to get completed. I had stress test and EKG ran last year so hoping they will except those results.. Waiting for my first visit to get on a weight loss plan and a surgery time frame. I would rather it be sooner than later, but this is a waiting game.. I will be self pay as our insurance does not cover the surgery but will cover the pre-op testing, just as long as it is coded for another reason other than weight loss surgery..
Good luck on your journey and ask questions away.. Great group of women here and a few men..
