Alterations?

Has anybody ever had an article of clothing that they spent alot of money on and didn't want to give away so you had it altered?  I bought a leather coat 2 yrs. ago and paid mega bucks for it, I love the coat. There is no way that I will be able to wear it at the size that it is now which is a good thing. But it makes me sick to think about giving it away. Does anybody know if a leather coat could be altered?  I am a good seamstress (Love to Sew) but this is not anything I would touch.  If anyone knows please let me know.  Lisa

I know they recut and restyle fur coats so why not a leather coat?  I guess you could call a furrier and see if they can do it and how much it would cost.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Rosie, since you love the coat, then I would check at some of these Alteration or seamstress places...If you only like it because you paid so much for it.....Then maybe try to sell it.
I too have a leather coat that was my first expensive coat. I know it will be way to large later....If you find out who does this stuff let me know!  I will probably still wear it this winter since I am not doing the surgery until Jan.
