Update on my DH, the medical mystery man
Many of you know that my DH has been "sick" since the beginning of July. What began with a "tickle" in his throat, has blown to proportions I wasn't prepared to go to.
We have been to 2 doctors, the ER and had a chest CT and an Upper GI. The verdict every time?
"We don't know. Let's try this." Medical practice definitely has it right.
Anyway, $100 worth of scrips a week for the past 2 months is crap. They have found a nodule in his lungs that they would "revisit in 4-6 months." I said, "NO! You will NOT wait that long. Nodules in chests in my family turn into cancer. Do it NOW!"
So, this coming Friday, we will journey to Enid for a cranial CT. On Oct. 16, the day before my surgiversary, we will journey to Baptist Hospital for the pulmonologist to scope his lungs. This procedure requires that he be under anesthetic and asleep as they run a scope down his throat into his lungs to probe the nodule. it's tricky because they have to wait between his breaths to maneuver the instruments. It could be scar tissue, nothing or....I'm not going to say the word.
Just please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. That is why I'm not on here very often any more.

Why do they have to wait so long between tests??? Is there a waiting period to see if they can figure out the puzzle? I do know if this wa the East coast your hubby would have been tested all at one time and not tis dang waiting game with scripts of every kind every week.... why did they prescribe stuff if they did not know what is wrong...UURRGH! I geel your anixiety and my heart and prayers are with you. Be positive and stay POsitive the c word is not allowed in your mind or heart..focus that this is just a medical booboo that time will heal...My other crazy question is this why cant they do a biopsy? Instead of a probe it would be in my opinion less complicated ...but then I am not a doctor....just play one on tv...OOOPS my secret is now out..I am a closet soap opera star....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
Charlotte - I have wondered where you have been and worried about you. I'm so sorry you and DH are going through this. I sometimes feel very disappointed in the medical community when it comes to stuff like this. (not our wls docs! they're great!) I hope it all turns out to be nothing. Please keep us posted and let me know if there is anything I can do.
Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. I really appreciate it.
The reason for length between tests is doctors' schedules. We have the earliest pulmonologist date that he had open. I think this probe is also a biopsy at the same time. If it's anything like our son's first one, they'll biopsy dead tissue.
When he's begging me to take him to the hospital, i know he's sick. He coughs till he passes out, till he stumbles, till he can't control his hands..till I think he's going to retch up his socks.
We do know that he has a hietal (sp?) hernia, but it's not related. He's trying to kick the Skoal habit cold turkey without the $125 Chantix (our cost after insurance).
I"ll keep you posted.
