Randy might have leak and or absess

Hey y'all.  For those that know about my hubby's situation, we have to go to Mercy tomorrow.  He had surgery for reflux (fundoplication nissen) about 3 1/2 weeks ago.  He had complications after they converted to an open surgery and ended up in ICU for 3 nights.  He has been getting better but a couple of days ago started complaining about lower back pain when he took a big breath or turned funny.

Well, being the umcompassionate soul that I am (my sister can vouch for that!) I thought he was just being overly dramatic like men do when it comes to being sick or in pain sometimes.  Well, we went to the doctor this morning and turns out he has water on his lung that needs to be drained.

The doctor knew all about Randy's surgery and decided to take a good look at everything and did a CT scan with contrast.  The radiology person saw something we don't know what but she was alarmed and told Randy she was going to leave the IV in there because they might want to admit him right away.  Then later she said it was okay to leave but report to Mercy Hospital at 9:30 a.m.  So....um....freaking a bit.

The reflux surgery is actually similar to our surgeries, VSG and Bypass, in that they work on the stomach and esphagus.  A leak or absess (like what Kimmray is going through) is also a risk for him.  I wonder if she saw an absess or something in there.  Trying not to worry.  I told him all about kimmray and what was going on with her and it gave him confidence that since she is doing okay with all her stuff that he would be okay too if it happened to him.

Sorry for the long post but just had to share with someone. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of this tomorrow and he can start to heal and recover.

I'm sorry to hear your husband is having complications.  I'm sure once they get him in he'll be fixed up and as good as new.  Silly complications like this take all the joy out of life!  As my Grandma always says "Its always something!"  You and DH will be in my prayers!
Hugs!

Wow, what is up with this?  Why are there so many complications all of a sudden!  Sorry to hear about your hubby.  Sounds like he's been through enough already to not have to go through this too!

I'll keep him in my prayers :o)

Hey girl, when it rains it pours, huh? I knew someone who had a fundoplication and the same thing happened to them. An interventional radiologist usually goes in with a needle under xray and drains the abscess and leaves the drain in for a bit until it heals itself. In the leaks that I have seen everything has turned out okay. Best of luck and keep us informed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Rita

I'm so sorry to hear this Amy. Men do have a bad rap when it comes to being wimps.....But it sounds like this was really serious! I'm glad you began listening to him! lol I am praying all will be ok but keep us up on him.....We kinda like him just like everyone else on here!!

Someone asked what is up with all these complications....I don't know either  BUT it is a good lesson for us to listen to our bodies, little tummies, and our good friends on here.  Pay attention to little new things that are going on. Don't put things off either....Ask questions because I am sure someone on here has seen it, had it, or is having it!!!

How do people have this surgery or even their spouses without friends like this??????

I think I wrote back to you, in another post, and called you Kim. I'm sorry, Amy. I do know your name. I think I did that, because I had just prayed for Kim McCrary. Well, I'm old and nearly senile, so...
I want you to know that I'm still praying for Randy. It has been my experience that when someone has received great healing, there comes a potential setback. Personally, I see that as the enemy (that old devil) trying to steal away the healing or, at least, instill fear. (I hope this doesn't weird you out.)
This is how to handle it. We pray for Randy, for God to continue to touch his body. AND someone who has authority in Randy's life (like you) can say out loud (it must be out loud, because satan cannot read minds), "Satan, you have NO authority to mess with my husband's healing, so I command you, in the Name of Jesus, to take your hands off Randy, and get away from him!" Say it forcefully, and you must use "the Name of Jesus," for the Bible promises that "At the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of things on earth and things under the earth" and that includes the enemy.
Well, if you haven't clicked Delete by now, I'll just say "Good night," sleep well, and keep us posted.
Blessings,
Mary

Nope, your suggestion doesn't scare me one bit.  I agree with you and what you say is Biblical.  We also have our church prayer chain praying as well.
