It is so exciting....
On another note -- please keep your fists tightly clenched (the Romanian saying for fingers crossed). A friend in Romania is traveling to western Romania to try to locate Giorgi's birth mother and obtained more history for me, as well as to try to obtain information on a biological brother also adopted to the US.
ALSO HOW EXCITING TO FINALLY GET SOME INFO ON YOUR DAUGHTER. I HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT FOR YOU GUYS!!
If we do get information on Marinel we will have to handle contacting the family very carefully. We know about Marinel, but they do not know about Giorgiana. We found out after her adoption that there were some things done wrong, even if for the right reasons -- Romanian adoptions were about to come to an end and we had been waiting a long time for a referral. The way the laws are set up in Romania siblings are supposed to be placed together so since Marinel had already been placed, Giorgi was to be offered to that family. I was told she was and that they turned her down. I found out later (long story how) that the agency was afraid they would not have a referral for us so they forged the paperwork saying the other family refused, releasing her to be placed with another family -- us. It could make for some very hard and hurtful feelings if they are aware of the Romanian law and would have wanted to adopt her. I know that if I had been in that situation it would have been difficult, if not impossible to turn down a sibling.
I have never told Giorgi about her brother and have not told her yet about searching for her birth family. She knows she is adopted, but because of her cognitive difficulties she still has trouble comprehending the full meaning of what adoption means -- and she would never understand if the search does not produce results.
