If you are one who takes the flu shots, then this is a reminder that it is flu shot time again.
Some don't believe in it, but I do. I also take echinecia(sp?) to up my immune system. Last year my kids all had the flu and of course mom has to  help out.....I never got it.
Don't forget also that if you are exposed to the flu, you can call your doctor and get Tamiflu to help you from possibly getting it from them or lesson your symptoms if you do. There is also an herbal type you can check on too.
After reading about a gal on here having being sick, I thought maybe a reminder about the flu shot was in order.....my policy..BE PREPARED!!!

I'm a big believer in the flu shot.  Even though I work in the pharmacy industry, it always amazes me how many people won't take the flu shot because they're convinced that it gives them the flu!  Our company even gives it to us free and they refuse.  Oh well!  It's their achy body, I guess!

Sure enjoyed getting to visit with you last night!  Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for the reminder.  I have never had the flu shot but I think this year I will take it.  Especially since my surgery my be in Dec or Jan.  I had a friend that came home from the hospital in Jan '08 w/ lap RNY and all 3 of her kids had the flu.  WELLLLLLL, she ended up in the hospial because she got it and got so sick.  I am upping my vitamin C and taking all kinds of vitamins now!  I don't want anything to put off my surgery!

I take it because I have elderly parents and an elderly uncle I visit in the nursing home.  It doesn't always keep me from getting it, but I think it does make it run it's course a little faster.

I also take probiotics to boost my immune system and echinacea during flu season.  Our big multi generational thing is usually Thanksgiving, and I like having full blown protection from the dreaded "kid germs".

Yes, years ago they gave people a "live" shot and it did make them have a mild case of the flu. That was like 30 years ago!!   Now it is totally different I have never gotten sick with the shots...Never!!  I don't even get a sore arm from it.   My daughters won't let their kids get them and it makes me so worried....I have no control over it sooooooooo. I just get mine and keep my mouth shut....kinda...
I enjoyed you guys too...It was a treat to see the sisters together!
If anyone has trouble finding shots....My doctor will give them.

I also work in the pharmacy industry and last year I was only 1 of 3 out of our whole office that took the shot -- for free. BUT, I hope they get it right this year as I got the flu a week before my son's wedding in February! Needless to say, the 3 of us who took it and got the flu got a lot of, "I told you so!"
