I haven't been where you are so I don't know what to tell you! My heart absolutely goes out to you. I hope you find something yummy for your tummy soon. Maybe a cheese enchilada or something??

I just met my sis for lunch at On the Border.  She got a border plate and added a chicken enchilada.  I ate the chicken out of the m iddle and some of the refried beans.  The chicken was spicy and the beans were very good.  I also made the crockpot chicken that Lynette posted last week.  I put it in my crockpot on Friday morning and it was all ready to eat when we got home.  My husband LOVED this also.  It was wonderful.  I'm having to get creative and get out of my rut also.  It's easy to get in a rut and then we get bord and want to graze...not good for us.  I also make HappyCat's pizza...get a tortilla and put pizza sauce on it, turkey pepperoni, veggies if you like and lots of cheese on top.  bake about 10 min at 400 or until cheese is all bubbly.  I just eat the toppings myself but it's really good and I make then when my family has their regular p izza.  I have on a few occasions eaten the toppings off the regular pizza.  I love tolopia and my pouch loves it as well.  I'm going to make some chilli this week.  I always drain and rince my ground beef so it is very low fat, I use diced tomatoes, onions and my williams chilli seasoning.  Some people like beans in it but I'd rather just have chilli when I have chilli.  Lots of protein and some veggies with the tomatoes.  I top with cheese and sour cream...omit the fritoes and crackers this year but that's ok!!!  I'm also looking forward to making my own stew this year.  I use ground beef in it as well.

There is a recipe on the back of the white chilli seasoning you can get at Wall Mart.  My daughter in law made this for me.  You use chicken instead of beef, navy beans, the seasoning and a can or totel tomatoes..also 2 cans of water...yummy.  Another thing you can crockpot on low all day.  My husband also liked this one.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Tell me how to make crock pot chili.  The beginner's version - I'm not great in the kitchen.  I guess you have to brown the ground beef first?

Ok, mine is a little different every time but I made it for my 2 boys, daughter and us for years.  Now that they are gone I have a problem cutting the amount down so there are lots of leftovers and they freeze great for other meal/meals later.  DH loves this.

Williams Chilli Seasoning Mix (silver envelope in the spice isle)
1 Large can of either diced or crushed tomatoes
1 can chicken broth
1 medium onion chopped
3 pounds hamburger - I buy the lean

Brown hamburger, drain and rinse in your strainer with ho****er to get any excess fat off
Put this in your crockpot and add the tomatoes, chicken broth and onions.  I also add some water....about 2 or 3 cans depending on if you like it soupy or not.  I also sometimes use tomatoe juice and use 1/2 juice and 1/2 water.  You will also want to add salt to taste.

This chilli is not real spicy but if you like extra kick add a can of rotel tomatoes...yum.

I put this in the crockpot before work and cook on low all day.  We love it!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I eat tuna salad, chicken salad, Wendy's chili, fish, chicken, beans, eggs, cheese, turkey pepperoni.  I can eat a lot of different things and haven't barfed.  I can find something at most fast foods places but beware of carbs!!!  Go to the recipe forum if you're a cook.  They have GREAT recipes there.  I also eat almonds and beef jerky.   Sam's has Oberto brand individual beef jerky that are soft and oh-so-yummy!

I am not there yet, but maybe soon I can be....However; here are some things I have found out by reading on here.....Like I said, I haven't been there yet so you can take or leave my ideas, but I feel like most are ok when you get on real food once again as long as you remember what size your tummy will hold.  I am using alot of this to get to my goal weight.

First......Where are the refried beans?? I hear people say all the time that they love those!  Mixed with cheese, hot sauce... mixed with chicken, ground beef......whatever!
I brown pork chops in a pan, and add Louisanna Hot Sauce, plate and add green beans or other veggie.
Pork chops are also great browned with soy sauce in the pan....It adds so much flavor!!!
I also did Chicken Tenderloins that way.
Tenderloins can be cooked with onions and green peppers...just simmer in a bit of water or broth to tenderize the pepper and onions and chicken. I add garlic or garlic salt to many things for flavor. You can add what you want....broccli, mushrooms....or just plain. I sometimes add
cheese and feel like I'm eating a fajita. Or I add soy sauce and wasabi and feel oriental! It's all about the flavoring.
I also use the tenderloins, then pour a can of cream of chicken over it and add a can of well drained chinese veggies....I then add Wasabi paste and soy sauce and a very small dab of sesamie oil,  to spice it up...Sure it needs rice or noodles, but hey, I can eat it plain and it's great! I sometimes add water chestnuts, onions and mushrooms. You can cook up many chicken tenderloins at a time and then freeze part for other recipes.
Taco salad...minis the bowl.... lettuce, cheese, beans, hamburger seasoned with taco seasoning, red onions, top with a bit of sour cream, salsa and a bit of catalina dressing....It is a filling, great meal!  You can cook up the hamburger and divide into meal portions and then freeze in ziplock snack bags with the beans....This way when you open a can of beans or cook up the hamburger,  they aren't wasted. There is no way one person can eat  all of that after surgery unless it is available to make in smaller filling sizes.  If you have a family to cook for this is well divided, but alone it can be condenced down and made when ever, just by preparing ahead of time.
Chilie or White Chicken Chille are both great.
soups(homemade) Chicken with lots of veggies
Cabbage rolls minus the rice
'Some of these soups you can thicken with the ground flax or with unflavored whey, but they are quick and easy.....Kinda dump in  the can type of dinners.
Cabbage soup with  shredded cabbage, with carrots, green beans, tomato sauce or canned diced tomatoes, onions, celery  and chicken or beef broth is wonderful! You could add some chicken to this too....
You are limited only by time and imagination.
You can type in any thoughts too and do a search...Low fat, low carb, easy low carb. Easy crock pot low carb...You name it and you can go see what they have right here on the net....
I just think that making meals ahead will help you with work. You can grab one to take for lunch or  come home to eat...

I would also go to the Recipe forum on this site and look at some of the things they are eating. There is one lady who has a whole site of foods for WLS patients....EggFace or something...the girls on here can tell you her site.
I know this is just me and not everyone enjoys cooking like I do, but I have always spent one day a week or every other week cooking and freezing into portions for quick meals....Using lean hamburger you can make meatloaf . It is quick and easy and if you like things like Salsbury steak or meatballs all in just the right sizes for yourself or family. You can make up all three at the same time with just slight variations. I use left over trays from other brands frozen dinners and make my own meals and freeze.
I think the reason alot of people get into ruts is because they don't even want to think about food at times....Of course that is good, but it can be bad too....If there is always something available then you have something to grab to eat.  I hear alot on here say they eat string cheese, olives, pickles, cottage cheese, beef jerkey, nuts all for snacks.
Maybe this will just kickstart your thinking a little....I don't want you to not eat, when you need that protein.  Hang in there and good luck!  Sher
